Live Thread for TV Coverage!
Some of you might get two pings until I get these things merged!
Day two? Isn't it 2:00 AM in Italy now? That would certainly be the first run down the mountain...
I'm still on snow watch. Might have to content myself viewing snow on this program.
It's Day 2 for us, bud!
And stop trying to confuse me; I'm having enough trouble as it is! :-)
Snow watch, you are worse than a kid, LOL!
The young snow board guy with the long hair in the
Olympics is a San Diego Guy, Carlsbad.
Figure skater Baldwin another SD guy. Not bad for a
no snow place.
Possible spoiler alert...
I owe NBC an apology. They focused mostly on non-Americans in the men's Nordic combined - especially on the surprise winner from Germany. They interviewed him and....DRUMROLL...showed the medal ceremony with no Americans among the top 3! Did someone forget to hit the 'homer' button in the NBC truck? Is Dick Ebersol asleep? If he is, don't wake him - this was close to the old-school ABC way, i.e., the right way.
I only wish NBC would stop the ADD procedure of cutting from event to event - we aren't idiots and we CAN focus on one event from start to finish even if NBC can't. In this case, they pushed the medal ceremony to the very outro of the broadcast. Everything's on tape delay - they have no excuses.
Glad to see Dick Button back on a skating broadcast - he finally threw in the towel at ABC I guess since they won't have the Olympics for the foreseeable future. I think he's also had a health scare in the past year or so.
Did NBC deep-six the chirpy female (forget her name) that does women's skating? I heard the name Scott Hamilton but haven't seen him yet.
Of course, it wouldn't be an NBC Olympic broadcast without the umpteenth mention of Michelle Kwan. As another poster said before the games started, I can't wait to watch her not win again. She is injured, which is unfortunate, but still can't bring herself to answer a question directly - God knows Jeremy Schaap tried. It's either an attempt to fool herself or to hang onto her commercial viability but the Daily Kwan Drama - DKD (TM) - is already starting to grate. Her personal press officer, Christine Brennan, will have two weeks worth of fluff to offer in USA Today whether she competes or not.
Looking forward to Slutskaya's performances.
Isn't that interesting! Thanks for the info.
Yep, I have my fingers crossed when I'm not typing.
The dog's water froze earlier today and the local newspaper said we're in for flurries at least!
I have new outdoor lights that surround my castle, so I keep looking outside, but nothing yet!
Thanks for the pings. I may not be posting until some of my alleged cold goes away. I dont feeb baree gud.
Brian Williams really took it on the chin on the NBC boards:

Have you heard any news today? You better stick close to the TV!
Is it usual you get a little snow or is it from the
large storm making its way up the east coast?
My Ohio and New Jersey relatives have been getting snow,
as I sit here in my shorts.
I did get to see ice caps in the alps. That was a big deal for me.
Thanks for doing this.
Absolutely no problem, Truth; and thanks for bringing it to everybody's attention.
I'm glad to have somebody to watch with!
The sound of the TV is too loud for my sickness-weakened ears.
However, I do know to pay attention starting in 36 minutes, if that's what you mean. I do NOT know the outcome. lalalalalalalalalalalalalala
Figure Skating - Pairs, short program
My God, Dick Button is STILL going to do commentary for figure skating events............
I had better not say anymore about this :-)
