Laura Bush says Hillary Rodham Clinton's criticism of her husband's administration was "out of bounds."
The first lady argued that the former first lady should show some empathy for the current White House occupants.
Laura Bush is leading the U.S. delegation at the Winter Olympics in Turin.
Clinton, the New York senator and a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2008, has called the Bush administration "one of the worst" in history. In the interview with ABC News, Bush was asked if Clinton's comments were "just politics, fair game or out of bounds."
She said, "Of course I think it's out of bounds," adding, "But I think it's politics, it's certainly politics."
Bush pointed out that former Presidents Bush and Clinton and her husband are part of a unique club that also includes the wives.
She said the wives both know "what it's like to live" at the White House and to have your husband criticized.
"Clinton, the New York senator and a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2008, has called the Bush administration "one of the worst" in history."
Cauldron calling the kettle black.
The "smartest woman in the world" sure sounds like a moron with statements like this.
"one of the worst"
I agree that Bush is one of the worst, about 40th worst. I'd give Clinton the tie with Carter for the first worst.
I love the Bush Ladies!
I agree that Bush is one of the worst, about 40th worst. I'd give Clinton the tie with Carter for the first worst.
LOL
Maybe you are trying to be humorous, but that statement is asinine.
I've always felt Laura should be more vocal. In any scenario of Laura vs. Shrillary, it'd be Laura every time.
And she knows it.
As 2008 approaches, her anger will grow as it becomes more apparent that she does not have a chance of getting elected.
And the remnants of the old Democrat Party are not strong enough to save themselves and the party from a Hillary suicide jihad in 2008.
Bill made history in 1994 when he suffered a great mid-term defeat in Congress.
If we are lucky, we will witness his wife bring down the entire party.
Democrats have nothing to fear.....
but themselves.
Just remember...she would have NEVER made these statements in the 2004 election running against him.
In what way is it asinine? The 40th worst is the third best.
My bad. As you know, there are some people who hang around here and bitch about what a terrible president we have.
You're talking about a woman who stole the White House silverware when her husban left office. Nothing is beneath her.
I think Laura Bush is universally respected, regardless of what people think of her husband. She is his most valuable asset and, as such, needs to be much more vocal in pointing out every glaring mean-spirited poisonous viperous potshot taken at our President.
Actaully, President Bush's most valuable asset is that he really doesn't care what people say or think about him. Especially now that he's no longer up for re-election. The only times he gets himself into trouble is when he tries to accomodate the wishes of the left.
Case-in-point: He went out of his way to justify the war in Iraq. At the time, everybody on the left was admitting publicly that such a war was necessary. Now the left has fixated on those justifications for political purposes.
Laura Bush is 100% pure CLASS -- Hillary Clinton is nothing but 100% pure BRASH CRASS.
