Taranto: Nothing to Fear but These Idiots. Dems fault Bush for thwarting an attack on L.A.

The Los Angeles Times reports on Democratic reaction to President Bush's speech yesterday, in which he described how the government foiled an al Qaeda plot to fly hijacked planes into L.A.'s Library Tower:

"The details did little to counter skepticism from Democrats and some law enforcement officials who have questioned whether the reported scheme had ever been put into operation before it was thwarted."

So we're supposed to wait until after terror plots have been put into operation before thwarting them?

"I can't think of a governmental reason to disclose these details at this time to the general public. Clearly, the goal was to create headlines," said Sherman, who monitors security matters as the ranking Democrat on the House subcommittee on international terrorism and nonproliferation."

But it is very helpful to disclose crucial details about the terrorist surveillance program?

Exactly. The current mayor of LA who wasn't in office in 2002, is more interested in making CA part of Mexico than protecting the US.

Maybe Bush should contact all possible future mayors of LA and let them know that there was a plot that was thwarted while one of the predecessors was in office.

Our WOT is becoming way way too public. LEAKING Secrets through the NYSlimes and WaPo has started everyone thinking that since it is "our Government" we all have a right to know everything. I disagree and that is why we have a system of Security Clearances, and if you don't have a need to know you don't get the info. PERIOD.
