$2.8 Trillion Budget - Can we nuke Washington D.C. instead of Tehran.

Washington is a much more dangerous foe to us citizens.

My God. It's no wonder we keep running out of money.

People need to get off their asses and make their own money. There's -no reason- the government should be doling out this much cash. No reason at all, whatsoever.

Sad thing is, I know there's a list somewhere of 10,000 similarly named stupid expenditures that should be cut but can't be because of a bunch of bleeding hearts in the Senate trying to buy votes with OUR TAXES.

Everyone will line up to say how their program is less than 1% of the the federal budget, as if that's a reason for them to continue feeding at the public trough.

The list needs to be at least 10 times longer. It's a start, though.

First they claim he spends too much then they cry when he cuts it. I guess they all think he can cut someone elses funds , but theirs are too important.

The man cant win, If he turned the water into wine , they would call him a bootlegger.

Sorry, but when you actually run the numbers, the reality is a lot worse than that. It may look like a lot of cash, but it's ONLY total $14.7 billion being cut. That's only cutting 0.52% out of the total Federal budget of $2.8 TRILLION.

The Socialists will scream like stuck pigs about "massive" budget cuts, but in the overall scheme of things, we're talking peanuts.

The 141 programs that President Bush proposed to eliminate or cut in his 2007 budget, with potential savings in millions

According to my Casio, it's billions (11.967 to be exact), not millions.

Excessive spending VS unending terrorism? Hey, at least I can vote folks out of Washington.

No no, I completely understand the difference between what we're seeing and what we should be getting.

It's a tad late for me to dig into it at the moment, but I'd be curious to see a general list of where all that 2.8 trillion goes.

The "savings" listed here are less than 20 Billion.

That isn't jack sh*t when our President has submitted a budget for 2800 Billion.

DO THEY THINK WE ARE IDIOTS.

WE ARE SCREWED.

Oh how I wish Social Security were on that list.
I could be getting an extra couple hundred bucks a month in my paycheck if that program were axed.

Under JUSTICE: I'd sure like to know what that $400 million in State Criminal Alien Assistance Program is all about. Methinks it's to train local LEO's to work with the Feds re: immigration violations. If so, this cut is not appropriate, but typical of the President's campaign to thwart the will of the people re: illegal invasion.

Cut , Cut and Cut some more. I live in a town of about 7,000 and guess what? At the hospital physicians staff metting last week be were blessed with 75,000 grant from the Feds to buy telecommunication equiptment. One unit. Yep this was for biochemical something or another. An guess what 12 other small rural hospitals in surrounding areas got the same thing. This is not going to be used in anyway to protect the Homeland under the Homeland Security Program. It was just grant money. Might as well be a pig too. I doubt it will be used much at all except maybe for some CME credits for nurses to watch Medical Conferences from Little Rock. Your tax dollars being spent wisely. I just groaned and everyone looked at me like What is the matter with you?. I wanted to scream but thought that would be inappropriate.

[snip]

Brian Riedl of the Heritage Foundation informs me that federal spending on antipoverty programs actually increased 39 percent between 2001 and 2005, and that antipoverty spending has reached a record proportion of the budget (16 percent). It has grown faster under Bush (8.6 percent a year) than it did under Clinton (5.6 percent). The number of people receiving food stamps has grown by 8 million, and the number covered by Medicaid by 10 million.

[snip]

By [Riedl's] calculation, only 16 percent of the savings might affect the poor. The legislation gets $4.7 billion out of Medicaid, slowing its growth over the next five years from 41 percent to 40 percent.
