The human mind plays a very powerful role in sexuality, but a person cannot be brain washed into being attracted to someone. If everyone walked around talking about how sexy Rosie O'Donnell was, and it was taught in schools that Rosie O'Donnell was the ideal of feminine beauty, does anybody actually believe the Victoria's Secret models would be out of work. Of course not. Attraction is not a choice. It is biological.

I apologize becuase I am not sure if you are a man or woman since I am kind of new here, but I will use an example you probably experienced with someone of the opposite sex. Were you ever very attracted to someone who wasn't attracted to you or vice versa? If you have been in such a situation you will know that there is basically nothing you or anyone else can really do to change either person's mind.

Certainly, you can hit on them at a time when they are vulnerable, like right after they have been rejected or feel lonely. Since a lot of teenagers are in that state of mind, they are easy prey to predators. Sexuality is complex, and people often become turned on my inanimate objects. People have fetishes for leather, vinyl, diapers, and all sorts of strange stuff. This things turn them on as a result of learned behavior not genetics.

You never studied Renaissance Art, did you? Fatties were the ideal back then. In some countries, it's thought that women with 12 inch long necks are beautiful. In 19th century China, a woman with unbound feet was considered hideous.

Attraction is partially innate, but can be adjusted or re-learned based on societal pressures.

I've been attracted to beautiful women as long as can remember. Nothing anyone ever said could change that. I cannot fathom that any heterosexual is going to be peer pressured into being gay. It is ridiculous. You are either gay or you aren't.

Maybe not you, but some who are less grounded can be shaken if saturated by a certain thing. Dont underestimate that power. It happens all the time. I'm sure you could find examples of it easily.

The bodytype people are attracted to can easily be a social phenomenon, thats why here in the US we like a certain thing (VS models) and other cultures prefer large women, or really long necks or holes in bottom lips. It would be a long road to go from the lovelies in VS magazines to Rosie Odonnel but it without a doubt could happen. Changes in taste happen all the time. See what we find attractive now to what we found attractive to times gone by.

As far as attraction goes, its easy to see in personal experiences that attraction can be misplaced. Ever really liked a girl and then started dating her and realized you arent attracted to her at all? I have and I would presume it happens quite a bit. I think you are being short sighted on this issue. The power of persuasion is quite amazing. Compound that with the notoriously confusing teenage years and you have a situation where one could be persuaded to try something different. Its neglectful to ignore the obvious effects culture and persuasion have on people.
