Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
Does he make any reasonable effort to pass any sort of legislation?
No. He makes press releases. He must go through a fax machine per month.
Does he try to build coalitions?
No. He gets no bipartisan support and spends all of his time bashing the president. So what's better, the Democrats?
Does he have electoral support?
No. I can only conclude that he either cannot win statewide office in Colorado or that he'd rather be a useless gadfly in the House than a player in the Senate.
Believe me I won't miss any of the crap he will bring....
ohh wait, you gotta be ELECTED to change things right?
hmmmmmmm.....
As did I -
However the continuous "sky is falling" tone coming from those who want to make the border issue the primary national security subject are just way off base.
And if you don't want to admit that, that tone is out there. That this type of rhetoric being promoted...then there is no need for further discussion.
Yeah, and your namesake joined the Republican party instead of supporting a party that can't win.
So soon people forget that Alan Keyes was the "only hope".
And what might that be? You're opposed to good border security? Or lower taxes, perhaps?
LOL -- The Keyes man will soon find his way to this thread!
I'll admit that the tone is quite angry, and justifiably so, because the administration's stance on border security has been so utterly inexcusable.
or the rhetoric and the constant attacks that will either be brought by him, or used to derail him.
Face it, he's the lightning rod.
He won't get anywhere with ANYTHING.
Just look at the reactions to him.
Add to that he's wayyyyy too close to Pat Buchanan for my tastes.
Sorry, if the only "hope" the GOP has is Tom Tancredo, they are screwed more than you will ever realize.
Like Buchanan, he shoots from the hip and often hits his feet.
or Pat Buchanan.
Or Ross Perot.
I am sure there will be SOMEONE that will come onto this thread and say that if Tancredo can't get the nomination, then he should form his own party.
I am sure Hillary is just licking her chops at that kind of talk too.
I live in San Diego and Illegal Immigration is a big problem.
Anyone who is willing to bring attention to this matter gets my vote.
WAAHHHHHH!!!!! ALL HE DOES IS PRESS RELEASES!!!!!
Gimme a break. Seen how much we spend on these Illegals?
I keep telling you, Trav, you need to run for US Congress!
You're in the right district for the border issue and women would vote for you on your looks alone!
I've been looking at the reactions to him. They're all completely dishonest, including the one I'm responding to. None of them ever once address the substance of what he has to say. It's just all ad hominem through and through. A sure sign that he's touched a nerve with so many of the very people who are a big part of the problem. The more he gets them upset, the better, because that means he's doing something right that they don't like.
Tancredo stands up for America and our sovereignty. You've got to be some hired mouthpiece for Vincente Fox and/or the Bush GOP elites. No one can go around making such outrageously stupid remarks and except to be taken seriously. Its just not possible.
The borders remain wide open. Over a million foreigners try to enter the US every year. Employers are still hiring illegals in direct violation of US law. And after five years in office, PresBush has ignored the illegal immigration problem. Bush likes the continued flow of cheap labor into the US and the Hispanic voters who might change sides and vote for the GOP candidate in 2006&2008.
Gee you really are'nt acting dumb are you?
They do support Tancredo's bill. But they're only 83 voices out of 435.
The rest of your post is pure nonsense and not worthy of a rebuttal.
Did he? Lets see how this islamofascist cartoon dust-up plays out before you make that final pronouncement
