Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
I mean, I know you guys feel threatened every time he opens his mouth, I can understand that. But try not to give yourselves away so blatantly by making totally nonsensical observations.
I love Bush. I love Tancredo.
Bush has been a great president in terms of his willingness and ability to lead a shooting war. And as his term comes to an end, I don't see anyone out there yet who I would trust with that job, except for some current administration members who have said they don't want the job (Cheney, for instance).
But as much as I appreciate Bush for his strengths, when it comes to the border he turns into a pussycat.
Tancredo is, in that sense, Bush-plus; he is one of the few people out there I would trust to defend America, and he is willing to go Bush one further and actually control the border.
At this point, I will not consider anyone who can not be trusted on those two points. Most things are negotiable, you take the lesser of two evils, but those two issues are not negotiable. I won't vote for anyone who I don't trust to go and get our enemies where they live, and I won't vote for anyone who won't take control of the border.
Meantime you lfrdoggies: Where's your candidate for '08?
Name him/her!
Which one of you geniusses has an Immigration plan that will work?
Tom may be right and he may believe that such words need to be said, but I believe in Reagans 11th Commandment: "One shall not speak ill towards a fellow Republican".
Bay Buchanan, eh? Wonder how closely she mirrors her brother's very, shall we say, unOrthodox viewpoints.
Those beholden to cheap labor have money, but not numbers. And a great many of them could probably be persuaded to content themselves with a guest-worker plant that is NOT available to illegals, such as the one Tancredo has proposed.
Is there a problem with illegal immigration.....most certainly. Especially in terms of those coming to this Country and not having any intention of assimilation....or to understanding and believing in our values, and way of life.
However it terms of our National borders being left "wide open" and this being a huge national security threat that GWB has completely ignored. That is 110% hogwash, BS!
The reality is more is happening (against a specific profile) then is being made public (for the obvious reasons!).
An additional reality is if terrorists could (can) simply cross our borders at will and there is absolutely nothing happening to stop them.....we would have been attacked again by now. Throw all the BS hyperbole about "they plan and wait a long time, blah, blah, blah"....Yeah! Pre-9/11 maybe. Pre-as$ kicking they received in Stan, pre-as$ kicking they received in Iraq, pre-as$ kicking they are continually receiving in both Countries still and throughout the ME!
The reality is should more be done with regard to the border. Most certainly. But the notion that the sky is falling, we're all going to die unless blow-hards like Tancredo take over is absolute BS!
Tancredo (whom I don't mind intellectually) is moving in the direction more and more of simply becoming another slice of the MSM fear hype machine .....simply for his own personal reasons / gains (he thinks).
You mean one that would be acceptable to the powers-that-be currently in charge, or one that would have positive effects once it's implemented?
Link to CPAC 2006.
As for all the money that Tanc is raising for Pat and Bay, Tancredo considers that to be a good investment. He thinks that with the proper training from Pat, and Bay providing her administrative skills, he will be able to assume the mantle from Pat.
Of course you understand, Tancredo, like Buchanan, doesn't really want to be Prez, he just wants to raise campaign contributions.
The problem tho, is that Tanc will never be more than a pimple on Pat's butt. Pat has got that whisper of urgency in his voice while Tanc has got only a nasal whine.
It makes him look a fool.
Who said anything about there being "absolutely nothing" to stop them?
By the way, even the administration has been forced to acknowledge that the border presents a security problem.
Sounds painful.
If Tancredo is the "only hope" I quit already....
Funny, most of the criticism of him up to now has been that he's a "single issue" candidate. Guess you just can't please everyone.
