Tancredo Throws Punches at Bush
Human Events ^ | February 9 2006 | Robert B. Bluey

Posted on 02/09/2006 12:18:44 PM PST by Reagan Man

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didn’t hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference—delivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.

Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.

“It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo,” the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.

Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.

Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a “party of individual rights and shouldn’t afraid to say it.”

He is, but has been forthcoming in discussing this. I like JD (much more than Reid) and hopefully he has good recordkeeping on the matter.

but let's not pretend that carrying one district is a mandate to speak for the nation.

I didn't say they did. I'm saying that if you think they were somehow "duped" into voting for him, then there'd be no basis for saying that people elsewhere aren't duped into voting for whomever they vote for.

"Mexicans (Tancredo) and you'll have one soon enough."

The perfect DU logic, disagree with Bush's shamnesty and you hate Mexicans.

ohhh he used big words like "vapidity"

LOL

Is EVERYTHING an IQ joke to you? Or is that all you have to go on to counter my point that Tancredo ISN'T a viable Presidential candidate?

I think I know the answer to that, so I will go double or nothing on this one.

The only thing about JD is that he was one of the top 5 moneygetters from Abramoff. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but considering that his clients were casino-owning Indians (native Americans, whatever) the fact that Las Vegas Reid got money is almost prima facia evidence of shenanigans and JD getting money is suspicious. Burns and Dorgan less so because of large reservations in their states.

If Tancredo's constituents really cared, would they not have voted him out? Keep grasping for those straws.

Congressional districts have a way of NOT panning out to Presidential elections.....

... Choose power or principle.

One man's conservative's principles are not, necessary, another's. As long as this division in principles exist, (forever), power can be denied perturbed.

Maybe Tancredo should run for Senate in four years against Salazar.

I'm a Conservative first.

A Conservative would secure the border and register ALL illegals. Do away with pork. Be fiscally responsible. Pound the RATS into submission...

That's what I like about you.

"Tancredo's the craftiest guy around; he knows that talking about 'nuking Mecca' will be wildly popular with the 'let's kill all the ragheads' crowd that largely make up his base."

It's a culture-clash that will inevitably happen sooner rather than later.

Islam is at war with the "infidel" West. Everyone knows that (except you.) It's escalated everyday since 9/11 with NO repite on in sight.

You didn't even really respond, so why would I care about what you write?

Cluelessness is not understanding how it is that someone whose views are reviled by the entire political establishment might just have a few difficulties getting the word out about himself. Enjoy wallowing in it.

Keep on making excuses. If he truly had the support of "75-80% of the voting population" party structure or not, he would have a chance. It worked for Reagan. Reality shows something quite different.

... Don't keep it a secret. Lets hear about your disgreement(s) with Bush ...

You'd like that, wouldn't you? More grist for you to grind.

That makes no sense. You either have Conservative principles or you don't. Are you part of the mushy middle? Compassion got a little out of hand? What?

I believe you misunderstood the story. Two (2) people have moved over to McCain, one being Mark McKinnon who was the democrat tv guru who had the debate tape stolen from his office. The other is some lower level strategist.

Since, in my opinion, the powerful people in Bush's campaign were Karl Rove and Karen Hughes, I believe the inference that the media made that all these important Bush people were supporting McCain is simply the usual MSM pushing of McCain as a candidate.
