What a great find! I can imagine the look on the experts faces when they were told it was in a chicken coop all these years. Priceless. lol

650 seems like a lot for them to each sell of 1.5 million or so. That's hardly rare.

That instrument has spent 60 years absorbing the smell of chicken poop.
Pity the poor person who has to play it....

After 60 years in a poorly controlled climate I would have expected it to be in pretty poor shape.

I was thinking more in terms of Sax and Violins, and the possible row that would ensue.

It is the rarity combined with the unparalleled quality of the instrument that gives it value.

I remember when my Grandmother passed away many years ago (my Grandfather had passed on 2 yrs before) and my Dad and Uncle and I were going through the attic, and found a violin that belonged to my Great Aunt, and inside I saw the word "Stradivarius", and I said "Dad! Look at this!" and they looked inside and for a moment we were ecstatic, and then Dad looked a little further and just above the name "Stradivarius" in much smaller print were the words "Replica of"....oh well. The excitement was nice while it lasted, all 30 seconds of it. LOL

The thing may be priceless to a collector, but I can't imagine any wood instrument stored in the roof of a chicken coop for 60 years would have any sound left in it. Also, I had heard that all of Stradivari's instruments had been cataloged and accounted for. A thrilling find nonetheless.
