If the mother has any sense of decency she'll let him off the hook. If she was on welfare or received other assistance from the State, she cannot let him off the hook because it becomes the State's debt.

If the mother has any sense of decency she'll let him off the hook. The mother doesn't have anything to do with it. The Nanny State is the controlling legal authority. Even if he pays it, she won't get it.
