I have been "lurking" on Free Republic for some time and registered about a month ago, but have never posted. This seemed like the post to start with! Last night at church, our text and sermon was on this very thing - turning the other cheek, praying for and loving our enemies and those who persecute us. During the service, I thought so much about President Bush and the way that he personifies this. I think his faith is so deeply ingrained and his belief so much the central part of his life, that he does this without even thinking. He is a good, decent, Christian man, a man of conviction and strength and will always show Christian love for his fellow man, no matter how he is treated. The Bible asks us what good is it if we only love those who agree with us - we must love those who disagree and persecute us. George W. Bush is the embodiment of this quality and I am humbled by the way he lives his faith.
