ISLAMABAD: A top Taliban commander on Wednesday offered a reward of 100 kilogrammes of gold to anyone who kills the artist responsible for cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported.
If someone killed the cartoonist responsible for the cartoons in Denmark, the Taliban will give 100 kilogrammes of gold, Mullah Dadullah said in a telephone call to AIP from an unknown location.
Dadullah also said that the Taliban would give five kilogrammes of gold to anyone who killed a Danish, Norwegian or German soldier, AIP said. AIP said that Dadullah was operating as chief commander of the Taliban waging an anti-government insurgency in Afghanistan. The agency quoted Dadullah as saying that the Talibans list of would-be suicide bombers had grown since the publication of the cartoons. afp

100 kg = 3,215.075 ozt
3,215.1 ozt @ $557.60/ozt = $1,792,725.63

Anyone who puts bounties out in the name of religion is disgusting.
"Kill him and receive $2,000,000. Praise God."
Sickening.

Anyone have that cartoonist's address?
JUST KIDDING!

I offer 8 grammes of lead to every Taliban.

You know, for a price like that, the cartoonist might be willing to disappear and spoof his own death. Show up once more with family in Nowhere, Texas.
To: rvoitier
Keep in mind that the most offensive of the cartoons was a trio of forgeries by that trouble-making immam in Denmark. Hey Taliban, here's your dead cartoonist/immam, give me my $1.8 million!

I'm guessing the irony of wishing peace for their prophet while calling for the violence on another escapes them. Cindie

No, they bungled that translation. They want the others in PIECES, not PEACE.

An observation : If an islamic person was TRULY convinced that mohammed was a true prophet of GOD, he would ignore the cartoons as boorish nonsense. If he wasn't TRULY convinced then he would do exactly what you see in these rioters/arsonists. You might want to tell them that...

I like that movie and the only scene I didn't like was one I don't feel comfortable describing here. However, when tell someone of that scene I laugh my butt off at it. LoL.

If you thought that movie was funny, maybe you'd enjoy "Something about Mary" or "40 Year Old Virgin". Those were just as suggestive but still very funny. I saw "Something about Mary" after my wife and I had been to a large wine festival and didn't know what to expect. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to pass out, but it could have been the wine - lol!
That is so cool that we have FReepers in Slovakia!

I thought the cartoons were submitted by several cartoonists in response to a request by the Danish paper. This, of course, in addition to the 3 fakes. At another FR site it was suggested that the 3 cartoons were originally sent by an extremist Christian group in the US. Any further info on this?

Elaborate.
