FYI......PING
When the 33rd Annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) gets underway in Washington, D.C., this week, the new National Black Republicans Association (NBRA) will be there in force, marking the first time a black Republican group co-sponsored what is perennially billed as America's premier conservative event.
NewsMax caught up with the energetic chairperson of NBRA, Frances Rice, on the evening of Feb. 6 as she was gearing up for two days of special "grass-roots" training events for her group that precede the formal CPAC kickoff.

Yes, I remember when everyone was excited that 2004 would be the election year that a significnt percentage of the Jewish vote would go Republican. Once again, it didn't happen. Somehow, the majority of the Black and the Jewish vote remain die-hard Democrats.

President Bush was publishing a special greeting to the group that was to be read Wednesday evening in conjunction with the group's Pioneer Dinner at this year's CPAC venue at the Omni-Shoreham Hotel in Washington. D.C.
Congresswoman Katherine Harris, R-Fla., will read the presidential greeting honoring the NBRA, which was formed just this past August. The NBRA has endorsed Harris in her run for the U.S. Senate, emphasizing, as Rice tells NewsMax, "her consistent support of black Republicans in Florida and black communities in her district."

Just went to the NBRA dinner and awards presentation at CPAC. It was great to hear positive and uplifting people who really get it. No victocrats in this crowd.

I've always thought his "I have a dream" speech is a very Republican speech. He was telling people that they had to stand on their own two feet, not wait for handouts. That is a Republican think, not a Dem think.
Also, had he been a die-hard Democrat why would Bobby Kennedy have spied on him and tapped his phones?
To: Arizona Carolyn
I asked about Jewish votes to a Jewish Freeper and got an excellent answer -- long, detailed and very sensible.
But I bookmarked it in the browser instead of on my profile and lost when my hard drive crashed forever.
The upshot was the very strong Jewish value of Mitzvahs -- supporting those who are the most downtrodden. The Dems fly that flag high and appear to do that, even though they do it to keep the disadvantaged as permanent victims in thrall to the party. Even when the party they support is the most anti-semetic group outside of the PLO.
I wish I had kept it or could find it.

I wasn't aware that MLK Jr. was a Republican, but his dad was, at least until 1960. That year, Martin Sr. switched his support from Nixon to John Kennedy when RFK secured the release of Martin Jr. from jail after a sit-in. (Of course, once the Kennedys were in office Bobby tapped Martin Sr.'s son's phone in the hopes of ruining him, but we're not supposed to remember that.)
