I have read only the excerpt. So far, the article doesn't make any sense. How can a person confuse making an apology with being gang raped?

Her dad didn't tell her what was going to happen. Her dad used her to buy off trouble. The other family (presumably of higher status, or better connected) made the accusation that the girl's 12-year-old brother had raped the other family's 20-something daughter. To avoid a feud, the patriarch of the other family wanted compensation. They settled on the girl.
Basically, the girl's dad was wimp scum
I always hated that story in the Old Testament of Lot offering to give his daughters to the sodomites to have their way with them. Creeps me out.
They would have found his mother, or an aunt, or cousin. The insulted party would have been avenged.
Everyone repeat after me, all cultures are created equal. Who are we to judge these peoples by our own imperalistic, ethnocentric values?
