American Muslim leaders say there is plenty of blame to go around in the uproar over the cartoons of the prophet Muhammad. Muslims have told European officials in Washington that the Danish government could have done a better job balancing free speech and respect for religious beliefs. Ahmed Younis, national director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), said his group organized a meeting Monday with the Danish ambassador to the United States "to advise on the tone of the response of the Danish government and to offer opportunities for solutions."

"...the Danish government could have done a better job balancing free speech and respect for religious beliefs."

i.e., they should have censored their newspapers like the Arab dictatorships do, right?

Screw you, Achmed!

""the Danish government could have done a better job balancing free speech and respect for religious beliefs.""

How? Given that this wasn't a government publication the only way for them to have done that would have been to shut down the paper, or place restraints on a free press.

It's amazing how vocal these people are over some pen scratches and how silent they were over 9/11. Screw 'em, I don't trust one of them.

Right on. Yet another euphemism for surpression of free speech. Lets hope the goverment does not cave to the P.C. sycophants. I'm so sick of this P.C. nonsense. Libel and defemation laws are sufficient restraints on free speech. Fortunately, in order to sue you need to prove injury. The day the US caves to these people is the day I leave.

There is no such balancing in free speech. It isn't harmless and inoffensive speech that has to be protected...it is the kind of free speech that p!sses people off that needs protection.

Without the freedom to examine anything and everything and present one's findings without regard to insult...there is no liberty.

If a wounded party believes they have been libeled, slandered or defamed in a way that has broken the law...take the allegedly guilty party to court. Otherwise, STFU!

Either it is free speech or it is contained speech. It cannot be both.

While Muslims have been taking it out on Danish people, Americans did the same thing to Muslims after 9/11.

Just moments after the Trade Towers were hit, a bunch of American civilians assaulted some amateur muslim pilots in Pennsylvania, causing the plane to crash.

As long as they are beheading people why should we care about their sensitivities.

Hi all, I am from Spain so forgive my mistakes with the language.

What I can get is what all this has to do with Mr. Clinton?

Last Monday in Qatar, former President Bill Clinton decried the "totally outrageous cartoons against Islam."

Bill Clinton steps forward to offer another lip-biting apology while garnering lecture fees in the oil-rich Gulf, in the manner of his mea culpa last year to the Iranian mullacracy. There is now a pattern to Clintonian apologies — they almost always occur overseas and on someone else's subsidy.

Muslims have told European officials in Washington that the Danish government could have done a better job balancing free speech and respect for religious beliefs.

In other words, the Danish govt should have implemented a nation-wide forcible conversion of Danes to Islam. Problem of free speech solved.
