President Clinton No. 2?
ABC ^ | Feb. 8, 2006

Much of the buzz in Washington isn't about the president or first lady, but about Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton who spoke at Coretta Scott King's funeral along with a host of politicians from both sides of the political aisle.

An op-ed in The New York Times today says Republicans are playing into stereotypes in their attacks on her. Meanwhile, Democrats are divided about whether she should run for president.

Some of the political theater played out during Tuesday's ceremony.

During his tribute, former President Clinton said: "It's great to be here with my president and former presidents." Then someone in the audience yelled: "And the future president," which drew laughter and applause.

The Democratic New York senator is the talk of Washington, but a recent Gallup poll indicates she is not a presidential shoo-in. About 51 percent said they would oppose a Clinton run for the 2008 White House. Still, the political world watches her every move.

She can't even wear a new diamond ring given to her by Bill without a tabloid speculating as to its carat size and why he gave it to her.

"I think the Republicans are scared to death of this woman," said Mary Ann Akers of Roll Call. "They know that she's got money, they know she's just not a candidate for president, but she really is most likely going to be the nominee if she runs."

Ken Mehlman, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said that Clinton might be seen as too "angry" to be a viable candidate for president.

"I don't think the American people, if you look historically, elect angry candidates," he said on "This Week With George Stephanopoulos."

Akers dismissed Mehlman's sentiments as attack tactics.

"The angry woman is just a term that sticks," she said. "It's something that will dredge up all the old stereotypes of Hillary Clinton."

She will win NJ. If the McGreevy scandal didn't disgust voters there enough to elect a Republican governor, they are completely lost.

And she proved beyond the shadow of a doubt..................that she has absolutely no personality and the charisma of a prison warden. The country won't election a President with no personality and no charisma - remember Algore and John F'ing Kerry?

BTW, has anybody publicly stated yet what exactly Hillary! has done as a Senator? Other than touting her high poll numbers in the Peoples Republic of New York, what has she done that people are so approving of?

If we are going to get behind Mike Pence, why not just go with Newt. Imagine Newt debating ANY of the Democrat front runners?

Nice sense of gravitas and decorum for a funeral there.

I hope Hillary runs, she's too "angry" to win any Red states.

No way she wins in '08. She doesn't have Bubba's style, charisma, nor tha ability to talk out of both sides of her mouth, lie out of both sides simultaneously and do it convincingly.

"You better put some ice on that." Remember that one? And Der Schlickmeister had them lined up coming back for more. No way Hillary can do that.

Not nearly enough. However, states Hillary can or should
win include Florida, Pennsylvania & Ohio. That would be more than enough.

I think she will lose, but Republicans who are simply counting her out are gravely mistaken. In a two-person race, anything can happen. The Friday-suprise DWI report almost made Gore the president in 2000.

Was Condi or Jeb there?

Don't know. I think the yeller from the audience was referring to Osama Obama, who has just reneged on an ethics agreement with John McCain. Harry Reid pulled his reins up short and told him denounce the agreement he (Osama Obama) had just agreed to.

Al Gore a well known moron BY DEMOCRATS almost won in 2000 and John Kerry a totally exposed gigolo and anti-american, a laughing stock really, put up a respectable showing in the 2004 race..

The denial that Hillary would be hard to beat(2008) here on FR is amazing.. Hillary is no Al Gore or John Kerry.. MILLIONS would vote for her just because she would bring BILL CLINTON with her.. The denial is great out here.. very great.. almost whisling past the cemetary..

Not only would she bring BILL but shes a women.. And American women generally are STONE ditz's.. Harpo'crites bewitched by Oprah.. The forces embarrassed by Kerry and Gore would rally like Mother Bears to Hillary.. Republicans have "CARED LESS" about massive voter fraud.. so far.. as it was and is being refined.. There are too many forces aligned in Hillarys favor in 2008 to discount her chances..

The biggest and most glaring factor is.. the republicans have NOBODY equal to her.. NOBODY.. WHO ever runs for the republicans would be playing catch up.. All the talk about what Bush or didn't do WILL be wasted.. The Coup D'Gras will be when Bush comes out in favor of somebody.. Will mean absolutely NOTHING..

Discounting Hillary especially here at FR.. IS her greatest STRENGH NOW... and a bit of scary denial.. For if WE are in denial what state is the rest of the republican party in.. Hillary could LOSE the election hands down in freerepublic(website) yet win with the general voters..

Any that thinks the American voter is getting smarter is also in denial.. Hillary will bring Bill where ever she goes.. and literally MILLIONS, multi-millions will vote just on that possibilty.. then you have the WOMEN.. Most/many that vote in the presidential election have NEVER voted in any other.. ITS DIFFERENT...

Yes she is, though she'll never be...

She should enjoy having been number 2 for 8 years and as the rest of US know, for WAY LONGER...
