"One expert says a waitress who breathes second-hand smoke for eight hours has essentially smoked a pack of cigarettes."
Utter BS. Why don't second had smoker ever get addiccted, then? Seriously. It's a deadly addictive habit. Where's the addiction for second hand smokers? There is none. The "expert" is a liar and he knows it.
No lawmaker will admit that a 'public' place is one owned BY the public, (like a park) NOT a privately owned business.

Today the businesses, tomorrow, your home.
The LAFS are at it again...
Then fast food will be the target..
I don't know. I live in L.A. I don't keep up with all of the No Smoking laws out here because there are so damn many of them.
About smoking outside, I did add a caveat. "You can also smoke any place outside as long as no one is around to see you.
LOL - read this post!

I have a friend that lives in east bay area. She used to stand outside her back door to smoke. Her "new" neighbor cleared the view from one of their upstairs windows. Now, she stands inside her back door, so as not to be seen. It's crazy.
It is weird beyond belief. I live around a lot of illegal aliens and nobody reports anything around here. ;^)
Tell me about it.........
Please give us the name of the expert, his/her credentials and a link to the science involved.
But they can't do that because it's the media's job to play Pied Piper for the Therapeutic Society so that we can all die in perfect health.
Weeellll...I guess that is one good thing about the invasion. ;*)
That's pretty good...the Demonrat Gov., Blagoyivich, is angling to put gambling in every establishment statewide but God forbid if I want to allow smoking in a business that I own. Typical lib reasoning.
No 'will be' to it. It already is.
Along with products containing that dreaded ingredient....SUGAR!

BTW- They can have my chocolate when they pry it from my cold, dead, sticky fingers!
I agree with you that it is utter BS, although I do not agree about the addiction part.
But look at it this way..........if his claim about SHS exposure were to be true, it would absolutely prove the claim of addiction is total BS.
Actually the more common number that is used is that someone working in a smokey environment, and by smokey I mean without adequate ventilation, it amounts to the equivalent of 6 cigarettes per year.
And it the exact same group of "experts" funded by the same people that are doing it all, from smoking to fast food to sugar. As well as guns and alcohol.
Raising hand and waving! They've already "legalized" pot in my city (although state law supersedes), and are trying like anything to pass a state wide smoking ban. It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

Bingo. I smoke and know addiction isn't BS but you can't have it the way the "expert" says. People who smoke a pack in eight hours (regularly) get addicted so why, if what the "expert" says is true, are second hand smokers not getting addicted?
However, like you said, if it's equal to about 6 cigs a year, that explains why there is no addiction. The amounts are just too small. Hence, the "expert" is only an expert at BS. :)
YEP!
And the majority of the American public rejoice because they only see it as being against those eeeeevil smokers without a CLUE as to its future ramifications.
You've got that right!!!
