BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A collaborator on the childrens book series Curious George has been found dead on the driveway of his mobile home in Florida.
Police say Allen Shallecks body was covered in black garbage bags. Neighbors had passed by for a least a day, thinking it was just trash.
Investigators havent released any details of the death. But the timing is an odd curiosity, as a Universal Pictures animated movie about the mischievous monkey opens in theaters Friday, with Will Ferrell as the voice of the Man in the Yellow Hat, George's amiable owner and friend.

Perhaps this was the act of irate neighbors from whom George stole newspapers, which he then folded into sailboats. People have killed over less.

Could have been his West Coast cousin...Bi Curious George.

I often wondered if the portrayal of "getting into trouble" as the result of curiosity didnt' have a stifling effect upon the curious.

The suspect, identified by police only as "George," was last seen speeding from the scene of the grisly crime aboard his getaway vehicle.

My guess is it's his name-sake uncle with the anger disorder, "Furious George".

That time he painted the room to look like a jungle really made me angry.

Take that "Man in the Yellow hat," always telling me the right thing to do. I sure showed you.

Otherwise, prayers for this guys family, and I hope that a quick resolution to this crime will happen.

The death is an odd coincidence, given that a film version is due out Friday from Universal Pictures.
An obvious publicity stunt. - Tom

This is sad. My boys loved these books. We read them so often, I almost have them memorized. I don't understand this "collaborator" business, however. Most children's books have one author and one illustrator...sometimes the author and the illustrator are the same person.
