(AP) Guitar great Les Paul was in good condition Tuesday at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., where he has been since Friday, said Maureen Curran Kleinman, a hospital spokeswoman.
"The worst is over," Paul said in a statement. "I am doing better. I am grateful to all of my friends for their thoughts and I will be back shortly making them laugh."
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Paul was hospitalized Friday after X-rays revealed fluid in his lungs. The hospital declined to confirm that information.
Paul was to miss his all-star 90th birthday celebration concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He is expected to be released in the next few days, his son, Russ, told the Times.
Paul invented scores of recording techniques and helped spark the rock revolution by creating the enormously popular solid body electric guitars that bore his name. This year, he is nominated for two Grammy Awards, including best pop instrumental performance.

speedy recovery prayers for a living legend
ROCK ON LES!
Bump
...and props to one of my favorite (and underrated) axes, the 1959 Gibson Les Paul Jr. (double cutaway, one single coil P-90 pickup).
"ROCK ON, DUDE!"
Hard to believe that modern music as we know it owes so much to this little leprechaun of a man...along with Leo Fender (and Fender's associates).
Get well LP.
Les is More...
Popular music as we knew it yesterday and know it today would not be the same without without the accomplishments of the this modest genius.
Jeez. Every time I think I'm getting better on the guitar, they move the bar!!!
Seriously, all my best to a great musician and human being.
Les Paul and his band of renown - best wishes to you!
Les Paul, but no mention of Mary Ford? Loved them in the 1950s:)
Technically, it would be a "Black Beauty" Custom but their not manufactured in anything else but black. oh well
The "Holy Grail" of LPs (and electric guitars in general) is the '59 Les Paul Standard. I've seen more than a few sell for between $100,000 and $150,000. Ah, if only....
You gotta be kidding, right?
I guess since Mary Ford's been dead almost 30, there's not many who remember when they were a pair
Peter Green, the founder of Fleetwood Mac, used to have a 1959 Gibson Les Paul. When he quit the band he sold it to Gary Moore, who used it on the whole "Blues for Greeny" album (tribute to Peter Green). Sounds great!
Prayer sent Mr. Polfus. Hope to see you this summer.
Ok, Ok. I get it:) I loved them, they were so good together, and if I remember he had his arm set so he could use a guitar(after it was broken).
