The NSA Hearings : The Media Misses a HUGE Story !
I ve been reading the news in the papers and on the Net, and Ive watched the reports on TV; but so far, the Media seem almost clueless.
Locked onto the story that over 5000 Americans phone conversations were monitored , the reporters seem to be missing a huge story:
Suspected Terrorists telephoned over 5000 people in the USA !
WHY did terror suspects from Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran,Indonesia,Syria, and other powderkeg countries call people in America ?
Were they ordering pizza ? Getting competitive estimates on car insurance ? Signing up for 30 day firmer butt courses at the local health spa ? Subscribing to The New York Times ?
Heres a clue :
These are people with an intense some would say fanatical desire to do us harm.
Much of their waking day is spent attempting just that , and their telephone calls and their E mails are apt to be concerned with the transmission of intelligence, status reports on operations in progress, warnings to cell members, instructions on financing,etc.,etc.,etc.
If Uncle Achmed a terrorist in Khartoum - calls Cousin Farad in Baltimore, and tells him The family is still sick , it tends to mean : Our cell is still under surveillance, so be careful what you say.
The very fact these communications are being made to people on our soil is the real story and it is an alarming one !
The fact the Media seems to be ignoring this story is prima facie evidence that ideology (perhaps I should say axe-grinding ) and news-gathering are poor companions.
Good point. Dominoes doesn't deliver pizza from Detroit to Syria. So who are they talking to?
The sub-story here is that DEMONCRATS and LIBERAL Republicans want another ATTACK so they can BLAME Bush!!! It is so sick.....they HATE Bush soooo much they wish for American deaths so Bush will look bad!! SICK!!!
Calls to the DNC asking for the next talking points?
The bulk of the reporters you suggest
should be out gleaning info re WHO,WHAT,
WHY are too busy chatting on their cell
phones and sipping their Starbucks!
The rest of them don't dare step across
the line set down by their employer.
But the American voter, Dem & Rep, is
paying attention!
They are also trying to insulate the next president after Bush, since they will blame the Bush administration for not doing enough in the fact of a known threat (Connect the dots argument). This way, they will never have to take responsibility for their own crimes of neglect.
My issue...what was taken out of the secure facility in Sandy Berger's pants? That is, in my mind, extremely important...but I suppose we will never know...
No, we will NEVER know, but he's an evil Clintonite.
Placing bets on the superbowl........
Ordering from Victoria's Secret (72 virgins is a lot)....voting on CNN polls.... THE WORKS !!!!!
Good point. I wonder why the MSM can't see it? I'm sure they're trying to understand... /Sarcasm off.
I wonder how many of those 5000 phone calls were to Senators?
Aap aap ahh dap dap!!!!!
It's a religion of peace
It's a religion of peace
It aint Slim W, but this'll gitr done!
Kill A Commie For Mommie
Bump for a good catch!
Let's remember that it is 5000 calls, not necessarily 5000 different people.
Also, although the Rats say they support our troops, it seems they are not interested in listening to conversations AQ may be having with Americans and planning attacks on our soldiers in Iraq.
The NSA program is an international program and certainly some of the AQ phone calls are originating from Iraq or even Iran where a lot of the planning is going on.
Sure we know...all it took was a little research:
We already know exactly what Berglar took and why...pay close attention to the last para on the Clarke/Kerrick memo. From Ashcroft's testimony:
The NSC's Millennium After Action Review declares that the United States barely missed major terrorist attacks in 1999 with luck playing a major role. Among the many vulnerabilities in homeland defenses identified, the Justice Department's surveillance and FISA operations were specifically criticized for their glaring weaknesses. It is clear from the review that actions taken in the Millennium Period should not be the operating model for the U.S. government.
In March 2000, the review warns the prior Administration of a substantial al Qaeda network and affiliated foreign terrorist presence within the U.S., capable of supporting additional terrorist attacks here. [My note: AD info?]
Furthermore, fully seventeen months before the September 11 attacks, the review recommends disrupting the al Qaeda network and terrorist presence here using immigration violations, minor criminal infractions, and tougher visa and border controls.
It falls directly into the AD timeline. In that same post, I note that what Sandy Berger stole was the versions of the after action report:
The missing copies, according to Breuer and their author, Richard A. Clarke, the counterterrorism chief in the Clinton administration and early in President Bush's administration, were versions of after-action reports recommending changes following threats of terrorism as 1999 turned to 2000. Clarke said he prepared about two dozen ideas for countering terrorist threats. The recommendations were circulated among Cabinet agencies, and various versions of the memo contained additions and refinements, Clarke said last night.
Therefore, they were never provided to the Commission, as evidenced by the Commission Report footnotes (#769):
46. NSC email, Clarke to Kerrick,Timeline,Aug. 19, 1998; Samuel Berger interview (Jan. 14, 2004). We did not find documentation on the after-action review mentioned by Berger. On Vice Chairman Joseph Ralstons mission in Pakistan, see William Cohen interview (Feb. 5, 2004). For speculation on tipping off the Taliban, see, e.g., Richard Clarke interview (Dec. 18, 2003).And to what does footnote (46) refer? On p. 117, Chapter 4, we find this:
Later on August 20, Navy vessels in the Arabian Sea fired their cruise missiles. Though most of them hit their intended targets, neither Bin Ladin nor any other terrorist leader was killed. Berger told us that an after-action review by Director Tenet concluded that the strikes had killed 2030 people in the camps but probably missed Bin Ladin by a few hours. Since the missiles headed for Afghanistan had had to cross Pakistan, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs was sent to meet with Pakistans army chief of staff to assure him the missiles were not coming from India. Officials in Washington speculated that one or another Pakistani official might have sent a warning to the Taliban or Bin Ladin. (46)How about that? How many times have we heard Clinton say that he missed Bin Ladin by just a few hours? Yet the after-action report is missing, so the Commission relied on Sandy Berger's testimony.
Then the Clarke/Kerrick memo peaked my interest and I found this (#784):
Clarke was nervous about such a mission because he continued to fear that Bin Ladin might leave for someplace less accessible. He wrote Deputy National Security Advisor Donald Kerrick that one reliable source reported Bin Ladin's having met with Iraqi officials, who "may have offered him asylum." Other intelligence sources said that some Taliban leaders, though not Mullah Omar, had urged Bin Ladin to go to Iraq. If Bin Ladin actually moved to Iraq, wrote Clarke, his network would be at Saddam Hussein's service, and it would be "virtually impossible" to find him. Better to get Bin Ladin in Afghanistan, Clarke declared.Kerry and crew could not afford to have this info come out before the election.
See post #18...AD and the memos Berger took are connected. They were trying to cover for their failure to protect the American people. The Dems couldn't afford for that info to get out so close to an election.
You would think at least one "journalist" would bring that up, but they're evidently either too stupid or too ideological to care.
