Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who would not go into detail about the nature of the conversations or their context." " The audio recordings are part of new evidence the House Intelligence Committee is piecing together that has spurred Mr Koekstra to reopen the question of whether Iraq had the BIOLOGICAL, CHEMICAL and NUCLEAR weapons American weapons inspectors could not turn up." They were provided to his committee by a former Federal prosecutor, John Loftus, who says he received them from a former American military intelligence analyst.

Impossible. You'd have to have recorded, identified and categorized every single word Saddam, all his aides and all his generals could possibly have uttered and in every single tone of voice they could possibly have uttered them in order to attempt such manipulation.

We're not talking a few guys in an al Jazeera studio, editing clips of old tapes together to send a new message from a dead guy, we're talking a LOT of people, interacting, arguing, debating, demanding explanations and data etc.

I believe they probably have enough of that data already saved, they would not need everything they ever said. There are people that can do this.

One can "burn" audio files on DVDs. One has to have a DVD burner, but you can get one of those for $60-$100. A DVD might have 4.7 gigabytes of space where a CD only has 700 megabytes. You would have to play it on a DVD player, I guess.

one has to take into account it was the NY Sun and ONLY the NY Sun what was helping to get out the true message about Kerry.

Sense the MSM will not allow such recording to be played (IMO), what better way than to have them on CD and have them passed the world around via the internet. I smell the administration playing the media's own game on this one. in time for 06.

You're right, you can, but the article specifically states:

Contacted yesterday by The New York Sun, Mr. Loftus would only say that he delivered a CD of the recordings to a representative of the committee, and the following week the committee announced that it was reopening the investigation into weapons of mass destruction.

IMHO, the intelligence community has shown an alarming lack of "curiosity" about a number of important issues. First among those issues: Who is leaking our vital intelligence to the New York Times?

I am certain that if the committee finds factually that WMD's existed, and were spirited away, George W will GRACIOUSLY (and gratefully!) admit that he ended the search to soon!!
