IRAN: JOURNALIST RISKS DEATH PENALTY FOR SATIRE
Tehran, 6 Feb. (AKI) - A 19-year-old Iranian journalist, Elham Foroutan, risks the death penalty for a satirical article in which she compares the Islamic revolution in Iran to the AIDS virus. Foroutan, wrote the article for the magazine, Tamaddon Hormozgan, a weekly which is published in Bandar Abbas, in the south of Iran. Foroutan, was arrested together with six editors of the magazine, whose publication has also been suspended.
In the piece, Foroutan compares the Islamic revolution to the spread of the AIDS virus, saying that it "arrived in Iran in 1979", the year of the revolution led by Ayatollah Khomeni. In the article entitled "Make the fight against AIDS public", the reformist former president of Iran, Mohammad Khatami is described as "a remedy that allowed for the diffusion of the virus," while the current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is "the virus in the first person", while the Pasdaran, the judicial authority and the ministry of intelligence, have been defined as the "diffusion centres".
Tamaddon Hormozgan is owned by Ali Dirbaz, the parliamentarian who belongs to the Abadgaran faction which supports the current Iranian president. Ali Dirbaz took immediate action against the editors and in some statements to the media, he has also called for the death penalty for the journalist.
Foroutan has been accused of insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, an act that is punishable by death. In the meantime, the ministry of culture and Islamic orientation announced the imminent closing of 70 magazines which "do not respect the values of the revolution and express the concepts contrary to the principles of Islam".

I mistyped, sorry.
I'm sure that any moment the National Organization for Women will pick up her standard and storm the iranian Embassy in her defense...

[crickets chirp]
so... did you hear about that Fredan chick?
Source Dr. Homa Darabi Foundation talking about Iran:
In the Islamic Republic, girls condemned to death penalty may not undergo the sentence as long as they are virgin. Thus they are systematically raped by the Islamic Guards before their sentence is executed.
According to the 1992 report of the Special Representative of the Commission of the Human Rights of the United Nations in the Islamic Republic of Iran,
"To rape women prisoners, especially virgin girls, who are accused of being against the regime, is a normal and daily practice in the Islamic Republic's prisons, and by doing so, the clergies declare that they adhere to the merits of the Islamic principles and laws, preventing a virgin girl to go to Heaven.
Mullahs believe that these are ungodly creatures and they do not deserve it, therefore they are raped to be sure they will be sent to hell."
But, the MSM will NEVER air this.
Thank you Jimmy Carter for the evil you have enabled on the world during the last 25 years. I don't give a damn how many homes you help build for 'poor' people, you'll rot in hell for this.
Sounds like Taliban Afghanistan just before the invasion.
Why should they come to the defense and aid of another journalist? There are plenty more journalists in jail in Iran and around the world.
The msm never utters a peep.

That is truly vile. It's not even medieval, it's simply barbaric and if anything, I would take her analogy one step further and say Islam is like the AIDS virus. I'll say some prayers for her for what good that will do.
I pray this young lady will survive and more Iranians will speak out and find a way to topple the madman who has taken over their country.
There might be some good come out of the cartoon insult. The higher ups in the newspapers are being threatened and that will get their attention. They might actually find out what Islam is all about. - tom
