Reid accused Spector of allowing lobbyists to write the bill.
Guess a lot more was said that brought Specter to near apoplexy. Accused Reid of slander, etc.

Specter: Kennedy just mentioned that we would renew or look at the voting rights act, especially in light of Coretta Scott Kings' death.
We're going to look at that and we'll schedule hearings early on. They have to be comprehensive and it's a matter of great concern to everyone on the committee.
Riiiiight. They aren't so concerned that they'll permit a photo id requirement for voting.
