LIVE THREAD: SJC hearing on the NSA surveilance program - C-span 1; 9:30 am EST

Posted on 02/06/2006 6:08:53 AM PST by ken5050

Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..

its going to be hard to believe any polls taken by the news agencies themselves that are pushing this story. there is no backtracking for the administration now on this, this is not a discretionary practice that can be subjected to the whims of some MSM poll.

See....I said earlier, from Kyl's questioning...and Sessions...that perhaps this may end up with WIDER powers for Bush....as far a domestic taps if known al-queda members are talking with each other.

I said that back in December. The administration should have no fear of, and no objection to hearings on this issue.

Senator Russ Feingold's Top Ten Pickup Lines
(Bonus: it's Big Ten styled, baby!)

11. "That Bolton confirmation vote isn't the only thing coming up..."

10. "Damn girl, you have more curves than Ted Kennedy!"

9. "You look like a golddigger to me, which is good, cuz I'm some fine gold."

8. "I believe all Americans deserve affordable health care. Mind if I check you out?"

7. "If I said a woman has a right to make her own choices about her body, would you hold it against me?"

6. "Oh baby, it's hot in here. Is it global warming, or is it just you?"

5. "¿Necesitas un greencard?"

4. "You are second-hand smokin'!"

3. "Now you've got a rack I'd like to invade!"

2. "It's ok, bring your husband - as McCain will tell ya, I'm bipartisan."

And, Russ Feingold's number one pickup line is:

1. "Hi, I'm Russ Feingold, and I'm a Senator. From Wisconsin!"

I'm getting tired of the democrats not allowing Gonzalez to complete a sentence before they jump on him.

It's in their playbook.

Senator, do not run for President over the graves of those who died on 9/11. Shame, shame, shame on you.

I hope he runs for POTUS in 2008, then his lone NAY vote on the Patriot Act of 2001 can come back to bite him on the ass.

I have a feeling that Bush trusts maybe a handful of people in all of Washington.

I can't speak to that....there is justification for that...

But the problem with FISA is with the specifics of the ACT....

It has a lot of Burecratic paper handling built into it...you are buying into the Demo mesage.....that the FISA act gives the President all that he needs.....

Feingold asking if the president has taken any other actions that wouldn't be permitted by the FISA statute.

Gonzalez wisely says he wants to be careful in answering, won't give away national secrets. AG says he'll get back to him with his answer.

Feingold snottily says he prefers that to being told the question is a hypothetical. Feingold moves on.
