They lock down the schools and so on, yet in Wyoming when we have grizzly bears fenced out of school yards, enviros insist we do not have enough of them.

I see there are still weird things going on in Wanaque. At least now they are of-this-earth. :)

The liberal's answer to how to deal with predators: Passively let him have his way.

No thanks, Garbowski.

The proper way to deal with a coyote is to cause him to point all four legs up toward the sky and assume ambient temperature.

The reason God made coyotes is so that they could become dead coyotes!

We have three coyotes that come by everyday. They seem to have very little fear of me. Each day the come a little closer to our 6 ft. fence. At this point they sit about 10 feet from it for at least an hour at a time.

We have a little Border Collie and a tiny Yorkie. They watch the Yorkie while she is outside. I never let her out unless I am there with her.

Last week I started taking my gun with me when I am outside. We live in the mountains and I know they were here first. We have lived here for twenty years and this is the first year we have had a problem with them.

I guess it's safe to say it here: A prime coyote from a cold climate is one of the most beautiful furs I've ever seen.

The coyotes ran away when police showed up. "The animals were not exhibiting aggressive behavior," acting Police Chief Mark Messner said.

They're very good at avoiding adults but when push comes to shove a lone child or small woman is just another meal to a pack of coyotes.

If you encounter a coyote:

A double-tap to center mass and one to the head should do the trick. JHPs are recommended.

If there is a pool going somewhere concerning which critters will survive any sort of world-wide cataclysmic event, I'll take cockroaches and coyotes.

I keep hearing people say there are coyotes in the middle of Houston in Memorial Park. Buffalo Bayou runs thru the park and coyotes are said to range up and down the bayou. We live about 2 miles west of the park on a ravine that runs to the bayou. I hear that people are losing cats and small dogs to these predators. The only reason I am doubtful is because you never hear these particular coyotes howl. I have heard them in other parts of Texas and I know what they sound like and I have never heard them here. Could they adapt to city living and stop howling because of the proximity to humans?

We have a cabin in Potter County PA, right up against the New York state border, and we've been hearing coyote packs up there for several years, now. It is an eerie thing to hear them howling on a moonlit night...

We live down near Philadelphia, and I was startled to see a lone coyote in a relatively remote section of Valley Forge Park a couple of weeks ago - in broad daylight. I didn't think they had migrated this far. But we've had the odd bear get this far south in years gone by, so I guess it's possible.

Coyotes have been seen in downtown Detroit. They are fairly common in the far western suburbs.

f you encounter a coyote:

Stop. Don't run. Stand still, and let it go on its way.

Give it plenty of space.

Never stare an animal down. It considers that a threat.

Considering that most coyotes aren't much bigger than foxes, I don't see how they're being treated as such a booger. I doubt that any coyote who encountered a human (an adult, anyway) would stay around very long.

In New Mexico I have never seen a coyote that would let you catch their eyes with yours for over a half-second. A split second later, if you were lucky, all you would see was a small dustdevil fast moving away from you a hundred yards out.
