We have three coyotes that come by everyday. They seem to have very little fear of me. Each day the come a little closer to our 6 ft. fence. At this point they sit about 10 feet from it for at least an hour at a time.
We have a little Border Collie and a tiny Yorkie. They watch the Yorkie while she is outside. I never let her out unless I am there with her.
Last week I started taking my gun with me when I am outside. We live in the mountains and I know they were here first. We have lived here for twenty years and this is the first year we have had a problem with them.

Sounds like it is time to introduce them to Mister 12 Guage.
Your Border Collie and a tiny Yorkie could very well be their lunch.

A coyote can jump that fence like it is not there.
Kiss your Yorkie goodbye.
Unless you zap the coyotes.

The coyotes have apparently figured out your dogs-go-outside schedule!!!

I live in a city and I always carry when walking my little Pomeranian and most times when I am out. We have had large stray dogs aggressively charge us when out so far my cane (solid aluminum billet shaft, solid brass head) has worked to fend them off. I have not yet felt the need to use my .45 in this congested apartment complex but I would if I had to.

We live in the mountains and I know they were here first. Naah, you were there first. Coyotes don't live 20 years especially if you put some lead to them. When you go out, don't just take your gun, use it. Yorkies, cats and other small animals are delicacies for coyote.

Several years ago, the wife of a local judge was out walking her small dog at the park, unleashed. A very large bird, possibly an owl or hawk made a pass at her dog. I don't recall if the bird was successful or not. While hunting, I've been surprised by the speed and stealth of owls and hawks that seem to come out of nowhere and snatch the slower squirrels.
