My Error. I was thinking of Philip's original conquest of the previously-independent Greek city-states
"Knock it off you guys, she said she was young, and needed the money."
Let me see if I've got this straight... Are you saying that if you did something wrong, when you realize that it's wrong, you have no right to tell someone else that it's wrong?
When I shoplifted something when I was about 9 years old, that disqualifies me from telling kids that they shouldn't shoplift? Or if I tell someone that they shouldn't use drugs, I'm disqualified, since I once used them myself?
I just want to get this straight... Of course, that's an argument that the left uses all the time to try to shoot down any sort of criticism against themselves.

Kyle: "We can eat it at Cartman's house, and see more naughty pictures of his mom."
Stan: "Yeah."
Cartman: "Knock it off you guys, she said she was young, and needed the money."
Stan: "Cartman, those pictures were taken like, last month."
Cartman: "Lehh, eh, screw you guys! "
That includes avoiding debt and teaching our kids about consequences of risky behavior.
I know these values are out of fashion, but there it is.
BUMP
Those are amusing comments. Do you still have contempt for people who are not like you? Anyway, when I did a google image search for tattoos, I didn't see any pics of Marines. Maybe if I do a search through my Soldier of Fortune back issues I can find some. But I don't feel like doing that or scanning them in if I found them.
Did you have a mohawk or corpsepaint? If the marines wore corpsepaint into battle, that would be pretty cool.
I don't believe "most" kids are like what's described in this article. It seems like the media is doing to this generation what it did to mine. It made it seem like everyone who was a teenager in the 60's was an acid dropping, dope smoking, long haired hippie freak who attended Woodstock. Now there were less than a half-million people at Woodstock, and that's nowhere NEAR the number of people from the target 16-20 age group! So the MAJORITY of kids in that group didn't fit the hippie profile, yet, the media still reports us that way.
Dang! Good for you. I've been trying to kick for nine years, the longest I've gone is about 18 hours. I'll beat it someday.
Glad the patch is working for you!
"... a ubiquitous, cheap, meaningless quest for ever-greater thrills."
True.
C.S. Lewis said that the condition of man in the post-Christian era (which was just beginning to emerge in the mid-20th century) would be far worse than the state of pagan man, since pagans were ignorant of Christ. Modern man has rejected Christ. The evidence indicates that Lewis was correct.
