Embassies ablaze as Muslim anger spreads (muslims of the world unite against "infidels")

The increasingly bitter row over the publication of a series of controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad reached a new intensity last night as protesters set fire to the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Syria.

With police signalling that they will launch an investigation into the behaviour of protesters in London who called for those insulting Islam to 'be beheaded', protesters in the Syrian capital, Damascus, defied tear gas and water cannon to enter the Danish embassy and replace that country's flag with another which read: 'No God but Allah, Mohammad is His Prophet.'

Last night the Danish embassy, which was empty when attacked, was a charred hulk. The Norwegian embassy was still burning. As well as the dramatic scenes in Damascus - not known for its Islamic militancy - rising tensions among Muslims over the publication of 'blasphemous' cartoons in Denmark threatened to boil over across the globe.

On your second point, you're absolutely right. That cartoonist should have expected the calls for jihad, etc. The trials of Salman Rushdie (for "The Satanic Verses") and the murder of Theo Van Gogh illustrate the average reaction that a person can receive for questioning islam.

The muzzies aren't the only people angry. Look at all these FR threads and their huge number of replies. If FR is any gauge of the west, I'd say there are is a huge percentage of infidels who are pretty pissed.

Good point.....I visited a few Asian news sites today and saw that the reaction in most non-muslim countries is one of disgust and hatred. The muzzies don't understand the fact that tolerence is not a one-way street.

Maybe so, but hells bells, the rest of the world shouldn't have to walk on eggshells forever because a bunch of maniacal, perverted, murdering half-wits might get upset. If it wasn't the cartoons this time, it would have been something else next time.

AFAIC, Muslims, with this reaction, are defining their religion as being at a comparable level of worth as throwaway cartoons from Western Civilizations.

That's a good point, too. Look at the Hindus that have been having problems with the muslims in India, and in Thailand, I believe. Isn't that Buddist? So often the focus is on the *west* and the conflict between Islam and Christianity, yet Islam considers ANYONE who isn't muslim to be an infidel. The pronouncements against us apply across the board to ALL religions. I think the maybe they figure if they can bring down the west, the rest of the world will follow suit in very short order. After all, if the US, Australia, and Europe fall, who is left with any capability to resist them? They are making enemies of the whole world with their snotty superior-to-thou attitude and the violence they perpetrate against others.

This has been brewing for awhile now. Time for everybody to choose up sides- here comes WWIII.
Much as I hate war and destruction, it's past time to stop these crazies.
We (the world, I mean) missed our chance to stop Hitler in the 1930s. Tens of millions died because the free world was afraid to start a war.
