And I am convinced that it will benefit the country immeasurably. Not just because of the excellent training but also becaus of the character building. I cannot imagine that anyone who has actually seen the poverty in Iraq will ever call c-span and complain about not having enough disposable income on $50,000/yr .

Roger that. And to add a bit more. Some of the best sales people I've ever had were former Infantry Grunts. With the right motivation, the right tools and the cooresponding rewards they were top notch achievers.
Some ofthese were just naturals; but most had never seen above the standard of manual labor.
The same Grunt ethic when motivated and rewarded showed these men that they had a lot more than most had ever given them credit for.
There were some problems - but in sales these things get sorted ut pretty quick. But for those who learned to use that same gut drive to earn their CIB, Airborne Wings or Ranger Tab in the business world it opened up a lot of opportunity.

If it wasn't for a garden growing up, our family would have been very hungry. I always hated working in the huge garden when I was a kid, but since then have realized the importance of it. Character building was a part of that as well.
