Right-wing group plans rally to protest burning of Danish flags in Muslim countries
COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Right-wing extremists planned to demonstrate Saturday in protest of the recent burning of Danish flags in the Middle East, a gathering that could sharply increase tensions with Muslims.
The demonstration in Hilleroed, 35 kilometers north of Copenhagen, also could spark conflict with left-wing groups planning a counter-demonstration there.
Muslims in the Middle East and Southeast Asia have burned Danish flags and effigies of the prime minister in recent days amid anger over the publication by a Danish newspaper of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
