Completely understandable. That was my initial thinking, yet the more I read about the current situation, as well as the silence of support for Denmark from its EU partners, I figured... why not!

Denmark has troops in Iraq. (and Afghanistan, IIRC). Plus, the Danish government has defended the right of free speech in the face of this intimidation. A few other Euros, such as the Dutch and Poles, seem to get it as well.

Don't forget, the Danes opted out of the Euro currency and closed their country to Muslim asylum seekers. The Danes took a lot of flack for both moves from the rest of the EU countries. They are way ahead of the rest of the EU.
