Since I first mentioned Judith Apter Klinghoffer and Little Green Football's idea to "Buy Danish" to support Denmark in the cartoon wars, a bunch of new websites and campaigns have been launched. I've compiled a few resources below. A special request for those of you getting ready to stock up for Super Bowl Sunday: Skip the nachos and Velveeta cheese. Go Danish!

The Buy Danish blog provides this helpful list of Danish products:

Knorr seasonings
Danish crown (meat)
Lurmaerket Butter

Danish Bacon
Thor Fish
Danisco Food

Candy:

Galle & Jessen

Beverages:
Tuborg Beer
Carlsberg Beer
Aalborg Aquavit (snaps)

Medicine:

Cigarettes:

Prince (Dont start smoking because of this fire!)

Clothings:
H2O
Hummel
Per Reumert

Shoes:
Ecco
Jaco

Danish Design:
Royal Copenhagen
Georg Jensen
Stelton
PH-lamps
Lego (toys)
Brio (toys)
Raadvad (knives etc.)

Trip Trap
HTH- kitchen
Morsoe (Fireplaces)
Royal Danish Porcelain
B & G Porcelain

B & O radioes/televisions etc.

Other:
Watco Danish Furniture Oil

Buy Danish yarn.

Denmark's exporter directory.

More stuff made in Denmark.

Davids Medienkritik has an excellent Buy Danish post.

Check out the Support Denmark page (hat tip: Paul Belien of the indispensable Brussels Journal).

Sign a petition in support of the staff of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper.

Does this mean I have to go see the latest Lars von Trier film?

No :).

I had to look him up, and I see he made an Anti-American film about slavery, starring Danny Glover. So... definitely no.

I was only kidding... I am not a dipper, but was always curious why it was called "Copenhagen".

He's a major league a-hole, alright. His entire repetoire consists of ugly portrayals of sexuality and violence with an anti-American angle. In other words, an "important," "avant garde," and "controversial" body of work. There are probably a few FR threads out there about this guy.

For some reason, a Danish pork smorgasbord seems particularly appealing right now.

I agree! I'm going to get me a big helpin' of bacon or a maybe a nice picnic ham and PO the jihadis, PETA, and Robert F Kennedy Jr at the same time.

Pork: It's God's favorite meat. Especially pork rinds.

Denmark has troops in Iraq. (and Afghanistan, IIRC). Plus, the Danish government has defended the right of free speech in the face of this intimidation. A few other Euros, such as the Dutch and Poles, seem to get it as well.

I've never had Elephant beer. I know my dad likes it. But I may buy some today if hubby's on board! :D

I was stationed on the Danish side of the U.S Thule Air Base in 1953. Because we were 4 Danish families there with our wives and kids, we were socializing with many U.S. officers. One Army captain we liked would disperse his driver to pick us up and bring us back to the Danish village. I served the driver one Elephant beer and he was not able to drive back to Base before he slept for a couple hours. The soldiers were only allowed to drink the regular Danish beer, Tuborg and Carlsberg on Saturday nights!
The Americans would get us "loaded" with Scotch and Wiskey, but we would nail them serving them Danish Snaps = Aquavit!!!

I wonder if it's a bad idea to send some of those Danish cookie tins in future care packages to Iraq & Afghanistan?

Probably, right? Crud. Well I can buy them for us, anyway.

LOL Yikes! Well then that definitely rules me out of buying Elephant Beer. I am the lightest of lightweights, and drink very rarely. I don't want to end up in a simulated coma to enjoy a drink.
