No, I was thinking about this:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Washington on Friday condemned caricatures in European newspapers of the Prophet Mohammad, siding with Muslims who are outraged that the publications put press freedom over respect for religion. By inserting itself into a dispute that has become a lightning rod for anti-European sentiment across the Muslim world, the United States could help its own battered image among Muslims.
"These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims," State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said in answer to a question. "We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable." The devil is at work.
Some of the most visual protests took place in the UK, where I don't remember any of these cartoons being published, though I may be wrong.
Eaker, Dog Gone says you need to make these cartoons into yard signs.
BIG yard signs.
Lighted at night.
I'm on the side of The Bomb.
The UK hasn't published these cartoons yet.
They should.
So should US newspapers.
Declining to do so is in essence agreeing that Sharia law extends into western democracies.
LOL!
I've a yard sign I'd like to place on my front lawn and then just set up my sights for the influx.....
mohammed is frying in (and then simply show flames)
but wouldn't my community, state, feds, local media go ballistic? LOL
It might be helpful to see the State Department statement put in some context:

"MORE LAZY REPORTING FROM THE MEDIA"
The official statement:
Our response is to say that while we certainly dont agree with, support, or in some cases, we condemn the views that are aired in public that are published in media organizations around the world, we, at the same time, defend the right of those individuals to express their views. For us, freedom of expression is at the core of our democracy and it is something that we have shed blood and treasure around the world to defend and we will continue to do so. That said, there are other aspects to democracy, our democracydemocracies around the worldand that is to promote understanding, to promote respect for minority rights, to try to appreciate the differences that may exist among us.
We believe, for example in our country, that people from different religious backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, national backgrounds add to our strength as a country. And it is important to recognize and appreciate those differences. And it is also important to protect the rights of individuals and the media to express a point of view concerning various subjects. So while we share the offense that Muslims have taken at these images, we at the same time vigorously defend the right of individuals to express points of view. We maylike I said, we may not agree with those points of view, we may condemn those points of view but we respect and emphasize the importance that those individuals have the right to express those points of view.
For exampleand on the particular cartoon that was publishedI know the Prime Minister of Denmark has talked about his, I know that the newspaper that originally printed it has apologized, so they have addressed this particular issue. So we would urge all parties to exercise the maximum degree of understanding, the maximum degree of tolerance when they talk about this issue. And we would urge dialog, not violence. And that also those that might take offense at these images that have been published, when they see similar views or images that could be perceived as anti-Semitic or anti-Catholic, that they speak out with equal vigor against those images.
is the State Department hearing 'crickets' as a response?
This is the first time I have seen the official statement. Why don't you start a thread with this?
If this is the statement, then we are all going off half-cocked because of the usual press manipulation. Please do start a thread on the official State Department response.
No administration as done more to fight radical Islam.
But the danish newspaper Jyllandsposten printed them recently, followed by the norwegian small weekly christian web-newspaper www.magazinet.no...
And the danish and norwegian ambassies are two different buildings, the danish is in the same building as the sweedish and chilean... I just saw them stomping on "RIKSLØVEN" = the official insignia of the state of Norway (a lion holding a viking axe) - that's like stomping on the american eagle for comparison... BASTARDS!!!
Are they true embassies or are they consultates? Most embassies I've seen tend to be stand alone buildings. Consulates tend to be office suites it seems.
These idiots are even less adept at guaging the pulse of the public than the RAT party.
Boortz made some very good points re Muslim outrage, on his show, yesterday. There never seems to be any outrage at the horrible atrocities committed, worldwide, in the name of Allah and his phony-baloney religion.
I think he may need to ramp up his security after his very pointed comments, too. He went so far as to call for the obliteration of Islam. I happen to agree, but it took some balls to say all that he said on a syndicated radio program.
Can you say Rushdie?
