Once again, he panders to the Congress to get cheap labor for business, while fully qualified Americans are looking for those jobs.

The unemployment rate is 4.7%. Fully qualified Americans are not exactly lining up for the soup kitchen. Get a grip.

What's with him and immigrants? Legal and illegal it doesn't matter to him, Congress should get b***s and tell him, Mr President when you finally protect all Americans from the illegal activity that includes drugs, smuggling etc, and stop making taxpayers pick up the tab for the millions of illegal leeches here already, and protect our borders than maybe than we will CONSIDER raising the bar for yet MORE immigrants to come in.

This is so unbelievable it just defies description. Americans going to college to get educated, their parents sacrificing to send them to college so when they get out they can have a bright future and earn a good income and our President insists he prefers NON-Americans! I am increasingly getting angrier about his love and support for non-Americans.

The Labor Shortage Hoax
Drowning the U.S. Labor Force and Importing Poverty

To George Bush, "leveling the playing field" means reducing American wages and benefits to Third World standards.
His Economic War against the peaceful prosperity of the American Middle Class has a higher priority than the WOT.

George W. Bush is a backstabbing DWE.

Bush said: "... the jobs that are having trouble being filled here in America.

Something's amiss.

>>>......while fully qualified Americans are looking for those jobs.<<<

Not true. At 4.7% unemployment we are below what has traditionally considered full employment. The number of people moving from one job to the next is usually around 5% - so we are at a practical maximum for employment.

In addition, many of those looking for work are products of American Public Education...dominated by the NEA (National Education Association) union. The emphasis of the NEA is benefits for teachers and administrators - to the neglect of the kids and good education. We need serious educational reform to fix the problem. Bush has made proposals which the educational establishment is fighting tooth and nail.

Until we have a fix to the education problem, we need skilled workers to keep our economy humming.

The lack of skills in our kids coming out of college is a whole other dilemma. Bottom line: until we stop having kids majoring in "womens studies", "black studies", "the economic prosperity of Marxism and Leninism", and "cross gender planing".....we are in a world of hurt!

I appreciate that some of this will go to cheap labor. But we are close to not having enough programmers to go around. If they don't do something soon programmers will start getting huge salaries again. And our products will both suck and be very expensive.

Any foreigner that comes in to get a masters degree and work as a programmer will not replace anyone. And after two or three years they will be making as much as any American and they will fill in the gap under the baby boomers to even out the population so Social Security will last through the baby boomers.

I'm one of them! The Internet is just full of those with very limited programming abilities offering to do programming at a price not feasible in this country given the taxes, health care costs, government regulations.......

During the Y2K fiasco, my former company wanted to "save" money and contracted with a firm in India to handle most of the transactions. Any money "saved" was lost in fixing all the bugs in logic and errors due to language issues.
