There'll be much more Chet in a few hours Kathy. I'm pleased that you're enjoying it. He was such a wonderful man. His sense of humor was corny and old fashioned, but he always had a joke. His idea of hilarious was saying he had a pool shaped like a guitar...... (wait for it) ...
....
amplifier. He never failed to break us up.
When I was a kid, my dad's favorite song was "Freight Train". When I introduced Chet to my Dad in 1991, I think he finally realized that his good'for nothin' son the musician had finally amounted to something. Chet was a dear man and I miss him.
This was his favorite Hymn - mine too:
Just As I Am

LOL Kathy. Wildwood Flower brought to mind a song from the 70's called "Wildwood Weed". Funny funny. "We just smiled & waved......sittin' there on that sack o seeds".

There is a great selection of patriotic music by various artists in choice of mp3 or wav format at the following site:
http://www.asoldiersbride.us/music.htm
If anyone is interested in some of the short songs that were in the old film "80 Steps To Jonah", please pm me and I may be able to send them to you.
here are some of the lyrics (as best as I could make out and I'm unsure of the actual titles but decided what to call them based on the words:
If I Could Be To You What You Are To Me
(Wayne Newton, in movie "80 Steps To Jonah")
If I had the key to the lock of your hair
Would it also unlock your heart
If I could travel the bridge of your nose
Could your lips be the place I start
We could sit...in the shade
Of the palm of your hand
And build some castles in the sand
Bad times couldn't reach us
In this fairy land
If I could be to you
Be to you...be to you
What you are to me
The Night Rushes In
(Wayne Newton in movie "80 Steps To Jonah")
(incomplete)
The night rushes in much too soon when you are alone
You know there's a whole world at play
But you're just melting in
The smile that you're wanting to see never comes
So you stand in the cold while you're waiting
For someone to notice you waiting
No one cares
You laugh but the tears fill your eyes
No one should see you cry
The hours seem like hundreds of years
The lonely heart knows why
A loving world is just a touch away
With A Little Seed And Some Love
(Wayne Newton and some children sang this in the garden in the film
"80 Steps To Jonah")(incomplete)
How did an oak tree get so big when it was a little seed?
(chorus:
With a little seed and some love
And a little help from above
Take some time and say a prayer
With a little sunshine and rain
And a little help from our brain
Most of all...tender loving care

A PRAYER OF PROTECTION
The light of God surround you The love of God enfold you The power of God protect you The presence of God watch over you Wherever you are, God is, And all is well. Amen.
BLESS THIS HOUSE Bless this house O Lord we pray; Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out:
Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that it may prove ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's heav'nly light;
Bless the hearth a'blazing there, with smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be Fit O Lord to dwell with thee;
Bless us all that one day we May dwell O Lord with thee.
