Who would do such a thing? Is it likely the work of a demented individual? Maybe it's too early to speculate, but I just don't see the Southern Baptists with organized groups of enemies. (Other than the gang at NARAL, but arson just doesn't seem their style).
--- the Southern Baptist Convention has gone through a split (with the SBC being the most conservative) and there is a lot of animosity in some parts of the country. Who knows? I suspect that it is likely to be a loony individual or small group with a grievance.
Don't discount the possiblity that it is an insurance scam, as many of the infamous church burnings a decade ago turned out to be.
I'm Southern Baptist and the "split" you are referring to is news to me. I might add I'm an active Southern Baptist. Our splits usually only mean that more churches will be started, not burnt down.
Not to point fingers at this early in the story, however homosexual activist groups (act up, etc) have been known to do such vandalising and attacks. (remember when they stormed the CBS newsroom when it was live on the air. Poor dan)
