February 3, 2006 -- REPUBLICAN conservatives are really warming up to Sen. John McCain as they look ahead to 2008 and one reason is they are starting to see him as the best person to beat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Conservatives loved the poll that showed McCain would trounce Clinton by 52 to 36 percent in a White House. It came along just as they were reminding themselves that McCain really is a true-blue conservative.
......
And yet, it's fascinating how McCain appeals to Democrats, even pro-choice women, despite his solid right-to-life voting record and the fact that he'd surely appoint conservatives to the court if he were president.
"It's the 'special' factor there's just something special that makes him seem above politics and makes many pro-choice women think he must be pro-choice because they like him," said Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway

No need for the primaries, the MSM has it all figured out. Hitlery vs McVain (The Clash of the Mega-Egos).
I suspect if McVain somehow does win the nomination, the MSM's fair-haired boy will turn into their redheaded step child.

And you all thought Calif's Gov Wimponator was a RINO? Just wait till you see McCain.

A "barf alert" would be appropriate considering how much trouble is involved with cleaning up a keyboard.

McCain is one of the few "Republicans" I wouldn't vote for under any circumstance. Period.

I agree. I almost posted a barf alert, but believe it or not there are some freepers that support McCain in 2008.

"It's really important to note that McCain is now engaging conservatives group by group, individual by individual and one by one."
For instance, he sat down to a dinner hosted by conservative writer R. Emmett Tyrrell with conservative activists Grover Norquist and David Keene, who haven't always been his fans. (McCain told aides they had a "fun" time.)
McCain spoke last fall at the politically potent Al Smith dinner, which appeals to New York movers and shakers and on March 17, he'll speak at the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick's charity dinner at the Sheraton.

McCain is one of the few "Republicans" I wouldn't vote for under any circumstance. Period.I, on the other hand, can see myself voting for McCain in one set of circumstances - if it was him or a Demoncrat getting into the WH. Sorry - but any Demoncrat would be worse than McCain.
Now, in a primary, McCain would be near the bottom of my list to vote for. I am not sure yet who is at the top, but not McCain.

I just don't think I could swallow hard enough to vote for him. Given that choice I would be at home on election day...as would many conservatives.
I'd also demand a full medical disclosure on him too.

In New York maybe, Ms. Conway, and that's not 'The Right' as the headline states. Who gave you your orders on this poll? Was it perhaps nicknamed 'Manchurian Candidate(s)'?

"It's the 'special' factor ...Nothin' special about it.
McCain betrays conservative causes and principals on almost a monthly basis.
That's the only reason he is "accepted" by Democrats and the media. (dont mean to be redundant)

I'd absolutely vote for McCain if he wins the primaries. There's no way Hillary Clinton can be allowed to run the country O_o

McCain Gains on the RightHe only gains contempt and derision.
If McCain wanted to do something to make me think he's worth something, he'd support his colleague, Sen. Tom Coburn in trying to control government spending.
