Last Sunday in London, the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that the election results of the Palestinian Authority surprised just about everyone. Like there is some big difference between Fatah and Hamas?
One is a blood-thirsty, Palestinian terrorist organization, and the other is a blood-thirsty, Palestinian terrorist organization.
What the Hell difference does it make?

The whole concept of freedom of speech is alien to Muslims. They are shocked and perturbed by it. Centuries of religous brainwashing will do that!

This entire article belongs in the Congressional Record.
"Destructive beliefs (Islam) that preach hate and discrimination must not be protected. They must be criticized and banned. Prohibiting the criticism of such beliefs, or any belief, is insane!"
I would probably alter the above slightly. Preaching is one thing. Islam teaches the forceful overthrow of all lands for Allah. I think that's probably unconstitutional. Islamic law is also unconstitutional.

Democracy is born out of political maturity out of recognition and acceptance of diversity. Democracy means diversity of opinions and not diversity of prejudices and freedom to crush opposing choices. Actually that is pure Democracy. However that's not what we have, and not what we should be recommending that others have or pushing them to have. We have a Representative Republic, with the representatives chosen democratically. We (try to) have a government of laws, including the highest law, the Constitution, from which the government derives its only (legitimate) powers, and which protects the rights of all citizens from Governmental infringement. (or attempts to do so).

I would also say that whereas the mullahs and Ahmadinejad have damaged Iran, they have not destroyed the growing desire for freedom there.

Aljazeera concluded: The Islamic religion does not allow offensive remarks by both Muslims and Non-Muslims. IOW, not only must they obey their religious laws, which I have no problem with, everyone else must obey them as well. That I have a major, fighting type, problem with. And they are lousy fighters.

Destructive beliefs that preach hate and discrimination must not be protected. They must be criticized and banned. Clearly the author hasn't quite got the notion of freedom either. Beliefs are your own, actions may indeed be banned, and that includes direct incitement to those acts. I don't care if you believe I'm going to hell, heck a lot of folks believe that. But I do care if you try to act on the belief that I should go now, or incite others to act on that belief. It's a fine line perhaps, but a very important one.

Yep, this PROVES that Muslims are just waiting for the day that they can enforce "dhimmi laws" on us infidels.

Muslims, have no tradition of democracy and no understanding of it. They confuse democracy with dictatorship of the majority. They exploit democracy to gain power. Once they come to power, they get rid of the democracy...Sounds a lot like Venezuela, doesn't it...

Apostasy(leaving Islam) is punishable by death. Mohammed said, "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him." Quran; Surah Vol. 9:57

IIRC, Ali Sina may be a nom de plume (or, more accurately, a nom de guerre).

"We're going to find out, sooner or later, If Abdul will pray, to a smoking crater." The way things are going, probably sooner.
We might also find out if they'll pray at a Jewish Temple. The one where the Al Aska Mosque stands for now, and where several Jewish Temples stood before.
