Ok, so here is the moral dilemma. I live in Marin county. A solar system for my house would probably cost about $35-40K. It would never, ever pay for itself in reduced energy costs. But... if I get a huge tax break that cuts thousands off the real cost, and probably a significant property value increase well beyond the economic benefit (much like how liberals overprice hybrid cars) both because of the perceived eco-status and because Marin county liberals can't do math, do I go ahead and do it? I get back a small fraction of what I pay in state taxes, mostly at the expense of Marin liberals. I'm seriously wondering.

Good afternoon.

The rebate program is good if it is funded and the liberals don't plunder the money for other causes. With Arnie pushing it and W hinting that he's in favor of alternative energy, odds are the program will be funded.

Other sources of energy are also covered and when the sun doesn't shine the wind often blows. If you are lucky there will even be a live stream nearby. With the rebates, a $25,000. system might cost you less than $10,00 and it just keeps paying for itself.

I really don't like being without power. I don't need to live a 21st Century lifestyle but I would hate to go back to the 19th Century.
