A deputy to former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), Boehner is expected to bring a new style to the leaders post after pledging during the campaign to involve more members in the legislative process and to offer an olive branch of sorts to House Democrats.Boehner has long been considered DeLays chief rival, and he pledged during his campaign to renew many of the ideals that characterized the so-called Republican Revolution spear-headed by Gingrich.

"A deputy to former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), Boehner is expected .... to offer an olive branch of sorts to House Democrat."
