I want to offer an olive limb to the Dems. Maybe about 3 feet long and 36 or so ounces. Not quite as effective as ash wood, but it should still do the job.

HATE TO BREAK THIS TO YA....

But Howlin, One of the reasons Boehner got kicked out of leadership.....WAS BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE ONES WHO TRIED TO PUSH NEWT OUT!

So don't think he is like Newt. Delay had to say he was sorry..so he lasted. Boehner paid the price because he was going against Newt big time.

HE WILL CAVE TO DEMS

He tried to push Newt out?

Fine by me; we didn't need an adutlerer as leader.

"A deputy to former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), Boehner is expected to bring a new style to the leader’s post after pledging during the campaign to involve more members in the legislative process and to offer an olive branch of sorts to House Democrats.

Boehner has long been considered DeLay’s chief rival, and he pledged during his campaign to renew many of the ideals that characterized the so-called Republican Revolution spear-headed by Gingrich."

You took that out of context.

>> The conservative agenda just took a big hit.

Looks like he has the right friends and the right enemies to me, so how do you figure the conservatives lost out on this deal?

The libs just sharpen the end of the "olive branch" and stick us in the eye with it.

Why don't these idiots understand that?

Why must they give the olive branch to the dems? Sometimes it really pisses me off that the repubs don't realize they have the power right now. They are afraid or something. We have practically EVERYTHING. This does not happen everyday. Why aren't we using it to our advantage while we have it. There will be a day (maybe 100 years I don't know) when the dems are going to be back in power and do you think that they will give the olive branch. I would love to hit every one of them. Ya, end up in jail, but if it knocked some sense into them it would be worth it. LOL.

Silly you - you put the line of the article in context so it would make more sense. Now you've ruined the imagined hysteria people were wanting to create around here.

I was hoping we could extend a rose branch to them. But I guess a sledgehammer would do. ;)

It's political staturing. He's setting himself up in a situation where we look like the good guys and when the dems embarass themselves again, they look even worse.I also found out that his name is pronounced "Bay-ner". thats what his campaign site says at least

He tried to push Newt out?

Fine by me; we didn't need an adutlerer someone who constantly compromised with Bubba as leader.

There, much better.

Couldn't agree more. And frankly since Newt has been out of congress and speaking on television I like him and his ideas even less.

But it still makes us look good to be the ones appearing to want to close the divide. The whole olive branch metaphor is more of a formality anyway. When it comes down to it the Dems will probably have less say than they did before.
