Blount remains as majority whip. Watch out for the payback for those who voted against him.

I wanted Shadegg, but Boehner will do. I have read some good things about him as well.

Just as I predicted, Boehner on the second ballot. Too bad, Shadegg would have made a better leader.

I didn't like Boehner at first, but he's a better choice then Delay lackey, Roy Blunt.

Rep. John A. Boehner voted last month against a bill "cracking down on illegal immigration"

I'm from Missouri (though not in Blunt's district), and while I think he's a pretty decent guy, the Abramoff issue is liable to be a distraction to him. Now that may not be fair to him, but I think the party needs someone there who can stay focused on being majority leader. As much as I like Tom DeLay, I think he's been less effective because he's had to mess with the whole Ronnie Earle crap.

I have to say, however, that I don't know much about Boehner. I was hoping Shadegg would win.

But in any case, I'm sure that Blunt will not let this interfere with his loyalty to the party. Afterall, his son Matt needs to be re-elected in 2008.

Is his name pronounced "Boner"? If so, I bet he had it hard as a kid in public schools...
