Okay, I shouldn't say he is a liberal, he was just one running to the left in the majority leader race. Am I( supposed to pretend to be happy? Hey, I will be thrilled to be wrong, but what makes you think this guy is going to challenge the Democrats. I wasn't crazy about Delay, but I didn't see anyone else in the House who had even some guts when it came to facing Democrats.

I was too. I was hoping to get away from politics as usual. But obviously even the republicans are more interested in protecting their status quo than in actually cleaning up their act.
They know we are between a rock and a hard place, we either put up with them or elect dems. Even the most tainted will not voluntarily step down.

When I went to Vote Smart there were others with similar names. So yes, that's possible.

Looks like he was against 1 provision that there be a National database and he feels puts undue burdon on private employers to be the enforcers.

I posted that link. See Boehner's expanation in RE#295.

The way I read Boehner, he doesn't believe employers should be prosecuted/punished for violating the law in hiring illegals. If that is the case, he is weak on immigration. Am I wrong?

IMO anyone who supports the status quo on the border is open border, mainly due to the fact THE BORDER IS OPEN!
Boehner is for the status quo.

I remember COBOL...... Doesn't it stand for something like Common Business Oriented Language or some such thing.....

You got it! And believe it or not, there are still quite a few corporate applications still running it.

Why don't you wait to SEE what he does before you slit your wrists?

He sought out the left-leaning Republicans for endorsements, while the other two candidates sought out conservatives. What does that tell you? I assume those Republicans backed him because they knew what he stood for. How do you explain it?

There is more to it than that.Being from West Chester(Boehner's hometown) I can tell you he is for the status quo on the border and nothing else.

I didn't say Boehner was for open borders.

Read the facts on my posts to you and the others, and stop fabricating stuff.

From an editorial in today's WSJ:

...Boehner has served in leadership positions already, but has admirably never lobbied for pork in his own district. He also voted against last year's bloated highway bill, which gives him a credible claim to be a candidate of change.

I'm not slitting my wrists, but I'm not optimistic. Sorry. Even though I'm not a huge Delay fan, I'm not crazy about how he was removed. Now Democrats know they can threaten Republicans with any kind of bogus scandal.

What does that tell you?

It tells me he's the new majority leader of the House.

I don't know all the votes, but I do know that it was Blunt, not Boehner, who got the vote of Chris Shays, one of the biggest RINOs in the House.
