Oscar nod for terror film a dreadful call

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday nominated the Palestinian movie "Paradise Now" for Best Foreign Language film. The film follows the path of two young Palestinians from their decision to become suicide bombers to the moment they board a Tel Aviv bus crowded with children. "Paradise Now," directed by Hany Abu-Assad, is a very professional production, created with great care for detail. It also is an extremely dangerous piece of work, not only for Israel and the Middle East, but the whole world.

"Capote" doesn't glamorize the homosexual aspect of his life. It's mostly about the strange relationship he formed with the murderers he portrays in the book "In Cold Blood." And I don't think "Crash" was any harder on white-America than it was on black or even Middle Eastern Americans...although I think the movie is overrated.
And you're going to tell me that "Walk the Line," about Johnny Cash, a man who openly spoke about his belief in the power of Jesus to save lives, is a "sharp stick in the face of majority America."
Even "Good Night and Good Luck," a movie about newscasters reactions to a certain Democratic Senator from Wisconsin, isn't just some American bashing flic.
I noticed the Palestine entry, but I didn't know what it was about, so I was thinking that it might go to South Africa (except, of course, that foreign film isn't usually politically -- it's usually Italian.)

I usually will watch the red-carpet parade simply because I like to look at the gowns. Sometimes I get a good laugh like when Bjork wore that swan outfit (don't remember which awards extravaganza it was). She even acted like she had laid an egg. It cracked me up! The actual awards ceremonies are nothing but the Hollyweirds giving awards to themselves.
all s0-so films--a really unremarkable year..I want the winner to be a film that you remember and take with you for weeks.Or two years later on t.v. (after dvd's,PPV,Cable)you still get that taught feeling in your gut like "saving private ryan" etc etc
Brokeback---ok, great scenery,good acting by a few
Munich-one of speilbergs Lesser films except for the controversaty
Capote--good acting by Hoffman, thats all
in a word boooooooooring
I cannot imagine how any documentary could be better than "March of the Penguins," period. It would be travesty if it did not win Best Documentary.
