CNSNews.com) - A conservative advocacy group accuses NBC of "hitting back" at the Christian community in an upcoming episode of "Will and Grace."
The April 13 episode will mock the crucifixion of Christ, the American Family Association said.
AFA pointed to wire reports saying that Britney Spears will make a guest appearance on the April 13 "Will and Grace," playing a conservative Christian sidekick to Sean Hayes' homosexual character, Jack.
When Jack's fictional TV network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, Spears hosts a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."
"To further denigrate Christianity, NBC chose to air [the episode] the night before Good Friday," AFA Founder and Chairman Donald E. Wildmon complained.
"NBC does not treat Jews, Muslims or other religions with such disrespect. Yet the network demonstrates a deep of hostility toward followers of Christ."
NBC recently cancelled a series called "The Book of Daniel," amid loud complaints from conservative Christians who saw the series as a slur on Christianity. (See related story)
The series was canceled only three episodes into its season; NBC blamed low ratings, but Wildmon said it went away because "NBC had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired."
Now AFA is urging Americans to wage a similar protest against the upcoming "Will and Grace" episode.
"Call your local NBC affiliate and ask them not to air the April 13 episode of "Will and Grace," AFA said in a message to supporters.
The group also wants concerned Christians to send a letter of complaint to NBC Chairman Bob Wright, and to spread the word about NBC's latest insult in church bulletins and newsletters.
This will simply allow another existing or a new network provide good quality programming and let NBC fall to the fringes like CN did when FOX came in. Bad decisions lead to bad business.
Simple do not watch nor talk about it. Ratings drop advertisers lose their invetment in that time slot.
I have never watched that show to start since it is about queers.
Ban Fox! It offends Hindus by letting Homer offer peanuts to Ganesh(he only likes sweets, look it up), and it offends Buddhists when Buddha was shown as a fat Asian gang member running from the cops.
Where do I burn down some things? Wait a minute. Wrong station.
It was the worst form of execution that the Romans' had...
Catie Couric and the various Law and Order shows are much more dominant in the public mind than Will and Grace, and often anti-Christian to boot; so a Will and Grace anti-Christian episode is a surprise?
2) They count on the offensiveness getting them publicity. They're propping up a worn-out show with a worn-out guest star taking a stab at their unfashionable enemies, who they count on to make a stink and get interest up for the ratings.
Ignore them, yawn, return only apathy and shut them off. Let them dwindle even further into insignificance.
I'm sorry, but AFA is just getting stupid.
There were 2 thieves crucified with Christ when He was crucified...
They should rename the show to "Will and Graceless".
Let NBC have its blasphemous hissyfit.....Christian outrage is exactly what they are looking for so they can dwell in glee over it....don't be outraged....and don't watch the show....its that simple.
ON a flight?
Will and Grace should have a "MA" warning. Homosexuality is only about sex, will and grace has sex as its core "gimick".
It should not be allowed on the air without adult warnings.
(and yet it still has advertisers)
Shows you how far my hipness quotient has fallen. If it isn't animated, or aimed at the 18 mos to 5 yr age bracket, I'm not watching it these days.
"... NBC blamed low ratings, but Wildmon said it went away because "NBC had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired."
So, what is the difference?
Poor ratings=losses usually!
I agree. This is just a step beyond the "Jesus-junk" section found in Christian bookstores. It wouldn't surprise me to find a cruci-fixins cookbook in one of these stores in another 10 years or so.
I used to think Will and Grace was cute but then they began the Bush bashing and that did it for me!
