'NY Times' Raising Home Delivery Price For First Time in Four Years

CHICAGO The New York Times is notifying subscribers that the price of home delivery will be increased starting Monday.
The increase, approximately 4%, is the first in four years, the Times said. In the notice to subscribers, Times President and General Manager Scott H. Heekin-Canedy said the increase "reflects the rising costs of printing and delivery."
A Times spokesperson said the price of home delivery of the national edition will increase 3.9% for Monday through Sunday customers, and 4% for Sunday-only customers. Metropolitan New York customers will see an increase of 4.3% for Monday through Sunday delivery, and 4% for Sunday-only delivery.
NOOOO...."it reflects the loss of subscribers and advertising dollars"
Hope they go down the tubes...
Dubya's fault!
Think of all the trees that the NYT has killed in the last year. And all the birdies, squirrels, bears, and raccoons that have been made homeless so that they can pursue their political agenda.
"I know! Let's raise the price!"
Meanwhile the NY Post is only a quarter!
May the NY Slimes go down the drain.
Are they doing ok financially?
When I was a boy growing up in Long Island, my late father used to always read the sunday issues of the NYT. He told me it was "the paper of record." I remember sacrificing to buy a 50 cents paper when in high school, and sharing the paper with my friends.
In college and medical school I could not afford to buy it every day, but read used copies when I could find them, or would go to the library occasionally just to read a copy. During my residency I began to question the NYT's accuracy and objectivity, and began to choose other sources for information.
Now 15 years later, I place the status of the NYT slightly above the value of the National Inquirer. I have not read a NYT in over 10 years. It is a shame what leftist activists have done to destroy the reputation of the NYT.
The NY Slimes is being exposed by NYC talk radio.
Downward spiral, just like public transportation, every time the price goes up the number of customers goes down.
Any chance a few tree-sitting enviroweenies were swept up in the pulping operation?
There's a bright side to everything....
You are so right. The same thing happened to me..I grew up in the Bronx and my parents always told me that the NYT was the paper of record, great vocabulary. So when I went to college I would also go to the library to read it and when I went to medical school I also realized that the NYT actually was a worthless piece of propaganda and they are even worse than the Latino newspaper (and ultraliberal) El Diario La Prensa from NYC. So now I refuse to buy a NYT and I know that my sisters who live in NJ refuse to buy that piece of trash, too. So I am happy to see them struggle.
If a 4% price increase will increase profits, just think how much profit a 40% price increase wiii make.
LOL!! That's liberal math!! The more expensive the more profits.
