Women sue Wal-Mart over access to emergency contraception

BOSTON (AP) -- Three Massachusetts women backed by pro-abortion rights groups sued Wal-Mart on Wednesday, saying the retail giant violated a state regulation by failing to stock emergency contraception pills in its pharmacies.

The suit filed in Suffolk Superior Court seeks a court order compelling the company to stock the so-called "morning after pill," in its 44 Wal-Marts and four Sam Club stores in Massachusetts, all of which have pharmacies.

Since I no longer live in Massachusetts I see their follies as mostly humorous.

But Wal-Mart will be selling the abortion pills within the month.

The plaintiffs are Katrina McCarty, 29, of Somerville, Julia Battel, 37, of Boston, and Dr. Rebekah Gee, 30, of Boston. All three were turned away when they tried to buy emergency contraception pills at area Wal-Marts.

The women said they knew they would be refused when they went to the Wal-Marts in Quincy and Lynn and that the action was planned with the abortion rights groups and lawyers.

After being refused, McCarty and Battel went to other pharmacies and got their prescriptions filled. CVS, the state's largest pharmacy chain, stocks the pill at all of its pharmacy locations, as do the state's other major pharmacy chains.

So, can these people get in trouble for obtaining drug prescriptions for improper / non-medical reasons? They are openly admitting this was a planned stunt rather than a genuine need for 'emergency contraception.'

I know what... I just came from McDonald's and they didn't have the Canadian Bacon for my Egg McMuffin... libs. I'm suing... It's stress on me as well as the egg and cheese... they're tied down and can't be fully themselves... they can't be free to their right of mingling with the Bacon, regardless of the after effects... I have the same problem. Wonder what big money legal minds with an agenda will back us for that...what if we live in Arkansas and need certain kinds of ammunition for hunting? I don't hunt, but it's an interesting point, and for some people, they could make an argument that hunting was necessary to eating because evil capitalism makes the purchase of meat cost prohibitive. It could work.....if we were illegal aliens.

Their needed medication comes with a couch... since it seems they had self-esteem. Must be tough being them... they want to be men and control the situation and walk away, in their stupidity they forget they're women... so God gives them a reminder. Their response...

I am writing to you because I am a woman who was refused "medication" by WalMart. I have recently started a homebased meth lab (work from home, be your own boss, etc.) and WalMart refused to sell me 72 cases of cold pills, which I need to make my product. Can you please sue them on my behalf? I'd do it myself, but the cops are looking for me. You seem to be a champion of disempowered, disenfranchised women of the Bray State, so can you please defend my freedom of "choice"? I have "rights"...thus and so forth, etc. and so on ad nauseaum.

It's just all about convenience isn't it? The sluts were inconvenienced by not finding their drugs at the first place they shopped. They certainly didn't want to be inconvenienced by pregnancy or having a child. And going to work isn't convenient either, so lets sue a rich company. How disgusting.

Contrare... the women's groups and the doctors work together. Even if they tell the women 'here's the script, go to Walmart, they call outraged, the doctor's outraged and offers a 'friend' to see what's going on... Of course, they would have to know to go there in the first place. What are the chances they talked to someone else who happened to go through the same thing? I'm not buying it. It's a set-up, most women would just go to another place... seeing as they want it as soon as possible. After they get the EC, the last thing they would think of is suing... it's out of their hair, unless the doctor and lawyer pressure them. Trust me.
