And I have some female friends that watch the show, and I got emails from them last night: You know what my favorite part of the show was? Taking Walt Cummings down and when Jack told her he never stopped loving her. That proves my point! BLEEEECCCCHHH!!! This chick wants to see eyeballs flyin'!!!
To: hershey
I think Jean Smart needs to spank that little wimp. No, wait. Spank me! Spank me!

I'm of the female persuasion, and I would certainly prefer blood and guts, scissors in the neck, etc, all over to Audrey... Agree agree. I like to watch Jack slowly break the fingers of terrorists and I think it would be nice if Audrey got it. But never fear; now that we've established that Jack loves her, her days are numbered.
But Rush is right, there are a LOT of women who would call their significant other up and whine "Do you still love me?" at an inappropriate moment. THe only deviation from reality in this exchange is that in real life a guy like Jack would snarl, "What? Do I love you? Oh my God. For Christ's sake, Audrey, I'm kinda busy here, can we please discuss this later? Gotta go. Bye." And then she would sulk and pout.
(Watch: now I'm going to get ten thousand responses from Freeper women saying "I'm a woman, and I wouldn't do that!" Of course you wouldn't. You're a proud Conservative woman. So am I. I'm saying that some women, a lot of women, would.)

"Audrey," (Jack, driving, one handed as terrorists blast away at him with Oozies) "I really can't talk now . . . ."
"Jack," interrupting, "I just need a minute."
(Bomb goes off as Jack swerves to avoid the blast) "I'm kinda busy now. I"ll get back to you, ok?"
(Mushroom cloud in distance)
"No, Jack. We need to talk about this now . . . ."

She's a "woooman"; torn between her career and true love. (rolling eyes). Most of the female characters have problems. Either they're bubble brains or Chloe.
PS. I love Chloe. :)

I've already seen questions as to why he hasn't called "Kim". I think he's been a little busy. *rolling eyes*An ex-girlfriend, a current girlfriend, terrorists on the loose with nerve gas and an estranged daughter that thinks he's dead--Jack's got a full plate today :)

You are right, you know. I, for one, do not watch this show at all for the "lovey" scenes. Can flick on any channel day or night for that.
But never fear; now that we've established that Jack loves her, her days are numbered.
Maybe. Maybenot. Jack has just said he loved her. Now Jack is supposed to rescue Audrey from some Lunatic who has tied her to the railroad tracks....
So some women viewers can swoon.. "Love, it's what it's all about"..(sob sob sob...)... and where does Audrey get her dermabrasion treatments done?"

PS. I love Chloe. :)Me too. When I was a kid there was a cartoon about super-intelligent Martians. Their eyebrows squinched the same way Chloe's do.

PS. I love Chloe. :) I hope nothing ever happens to Chloe. She's become almost as important to the show as Jack.
And I like that Edgar has a not-so-secret crush on her, lol. Both he and Chloe are so socially awkward they don't know how to deal with each other :)

An ex-girlfriend, a current girlfriend, terrorists on the loose with nerve gas and an estranged daughter that thinks he's dead--Jack's got a full plate today :) And still no potty break. I can't believe people have complained about that for 4 years. Of all the silly things to get bent out of shape about.

Rush makes some good points; then again, when he likes something, he defends it no matter what. I agree the show is often very exciting, but great WRITING? Hardly - there are plot holes you can drive a truck through, and cheesy simplistic storylines, especially when the CTU has all the overwrought personal drama of a gaggle of teens working at the Gap in the mall.
As far as the Bush-bash accusation, I dunno. I do know 24 wimped out last year with an on-air apology to Muslims and winding up with the bad guys being some bizarre hybrid of American-Arab-Chinese-whatever. No doubt they will do it again this year. We are all still waiting for an actual Hollywood show that reflects the reality of who the enemies of the world currently are. Or do we still only get that with the Nazis??
To: silent_jonny
Well, I'm a woman and I just want to wring Audrey's neck..hated her last season, hated her this season. I think Jack should stay with Diane...at least she doesn't wear pretend eyeglasses!!!

To: Hildy
Agreed - Audrey is hands-down the most annoying character in TVland...
To: MizSterious
I don't think the statement would be against the President, the statement is against his Chief of Staff, the Karl Rove character...or just Neocons in general. Rush doesn't want to admit it, but it was a dig. Still a pretty good show except for the RIDICULOUS personal confrontations. Same as last year...if we were in the middle of a potential National Disaster, people wouldn't be stealing off to the corner talking about their love lives. Just absurd. (Ok, Diane...I have to go find canisters of nerve gas but I'll stand here with you for a few minutes to talk about our future together. PUHLLEEZZE
