If I may suggest this could be looked at another way?
Iran would be attacking Israel on the basis of RELIGION (whether you or the entire group of Founding Fathers thinks it's ridiculous or not).
They want Israel destroyed because ISLAM says so.
They want modern civilization destroyed because ISLAM says so.
They want YOU destroyed if you won't submit to ISLAM.
ISLAM is Israel's enemy, it is civilizations enemy, it is the enemy of all who don't wish to be Islamic.
THAT is why we must defend not only Israel but non Muslims attacked by Iran or any other Islamic nation or group.
Islam is the enemy. THEY have designated themselves so.
Here's a question: Suppose we don't defend Israel, and Iran attacks and conquers it? What then? They won't destroy every Jew on the planet by doing that- and every Jew is still the enemy of Islam. Think they'll stop there, or will every group of Jews elsewhere be targets?
And what do we do when they turn their sights on 'Christian states' that shouldn't exist according to Islam?
Madness! This Roman Catholic female is willing to defend all that Islam wants to destroy. Because they CAN'T HAVE Israel, like they can't have this country, or any other based on a religion other than their death cult.

This has to be one of the most irrational comments I've ever read here on FreeRepublic. The survival of the United States as a nation doesn't depend on the survival of Israel, Iraq, Zimbabwe, or any other single nation halfway around the world. This isn't 100 AD, the 14th Century, or even 1915. A nation that "conquers" Israel isn't in any better position to project military force around the world than it would be without conquering Israel.
