The Democrat Senator from R.I., which is amongst the Bluest of Blue States has an ACU rating of ZERO. Any Democrat replacement for Chafee would have a similar ACU rating.
We should get down on our knees and thank the Lord that we have a Republican Senator at all in Rhode Island. If he wants to prove his blue bona fides with a meaningless vote every once in a while, that is great. Alito is still confirmed, ain't he?
Complaining about Chafee being a RINO is the FR equivalent of being a DU moonbat, with a break from political reality.
It is insane to vote for a man who opposes me on every single issue. Every single one.
If Whitehouse (dem) gets in he and I will agree on as much as 15-20 % of issues.
Laffey, the republican challenger would agree on 35-40%.
I don't see me losing if Chafee does.
You're right...I'll be heading back south or west in a few months, along with many other New England conservatives. So we lose RI to a real Democrat...perhaps he can be countered with a real Republican in another state (Montana, North or South Dakota, Louisiana...you never know.) Life is too short to waste it living with screeching moonbat leftists.
I wish you could talk some sense into my wife.
I'd be in S. Carolina now if it was up to me.
But no, I'm here trying to gin up the votes to dump that clown Chafee.
I'm sure that LC's no vote had 'dispensation' from the administration and Senate leadership. This kind of thing has been done in the past to shore up marginal Senators, Congressmen, etc. in a district where their hold is tentative. When it appears that a vote has enough to win, there are always some shaky state legislators begging to get to be the "one legislator" opposing the flock. It curries favor with their shaky constituency....
Log cabin Republican perhaps?

Oh, man...South Carolina rocks! Picking peaches, Wild Wing Cafe (paradise for wing lovers), moonlight strolls along the waterfront in Charleston, the beach at Isle of Palms, the beautiful up-country, the wonderfully friendly people...the ONLY thing that keeps me away from SC is my fair skin...I have a hard time with lots of sun. But it's only a short drive down I-26 from East Tennessee, so I visit often! Housing, taxes, and overall cost of living are WAY lower than NE...not to mention heating bills are pretty much a thing of the past. My wife, being from New Hampshire, didn't think she'd like it, either...but now she can't wait to "get back home". (We came back to NE so she could be close to her family, but decided that wasn't really worth it.)
Bummer. Good luck with Chafee...we're rooting for you!
Where's the Wild Wing cafe?
I'm going to S.C. in a couple weeks.
Please post address for Steve Laffey campaign.
Several fine locations around the Palmetto State...click here to check them out. (click on 'where we are'.) My old stomping grounds was the one in Greenville...keep in mind these are not 'upscale'...more of a bar/burger joint setting (although the one in Mount Pleasant is pretty nice). They do sell a wide variety of beer, domestic and import, but at the same time, it is not unusual to see families with children eating there...everyone is welcome! If you have the chance to try their wings, have a 'Carolina fireball' for me...mmmm-hot!

Chafee must go!
Sounds great! Thanks.
There is an effective way to deal with the Lincoln Chafees of the world and to restore the Constitution in the process.
Thanks Eastbound for the heads up, and feel free to use the links to our website to make any conservative points you need to make or alert others to the fact the Constitution can be restored. None of us will live long enough to see the Court do it from the bench. If it is going to be done within the lifetime of living Americans, it will have to done politically.
They are the enemy within the G.O.P.
This is why I do NOT give to the Repbulican National Committee. That's right. Individual campaigns only. In general, never give to umbrella groups. They always include a socialist fringe.
That is the most ridiculous statement ever posted on Free Republic.
Chafee is a social liberal trying to turn the G.O.P. to the social left from within the party.
He is poison.
Purging the Party of RINO's is a stupid stupid stupid idea. Being a Majority Party means Big Tent - thats how you win elections and get people like Roberts and Alito confirmed to SCOTUS. Learn to be a Majority Party or go back to being in the minority for another decade again, watching as people like Kerry nominate THEIR picks for SCOTUS.
uhm, Big Tent is why social conservatives have a seat at the table to begin with. You want to be in the minority again, go sit at Buchannen's table by the kitchen. I'm not happy with Chafee either, but calling for a purge of the GOP is moronic.
Social liberals like Chafee need to get out ASAP.
Long past time to clean house.
